MLB Hot Stove League 2023-24

This is awful news for the Yankees. Rotation was already a question mark and thin. I worried about this happening as Cole has been so durable, rare a pitcher that throws that many innings and that hard ever makes it through their career without a major injury.
In addition to this, Judge is out a few days. It looked like he got hurt on a swing over the weekend. He was taken out of the game right after that at bat. Another oblique?

If Cole is hurt bad they can't replace that, this SUCKS!!!

If Cole is hurt - and the Yankees don't replace him with Snell and/or Montgomery - then I will be major league PISSED! Without Cole we are looking at a similar season to last year. I don't know if I will be able to watch.

Clearly the news on Cole won't be good. At best I am hoping he only misses half the season.
With that said, can someone tell my why Cease is so sought after? ERA close to 5 last year, 79 walks in 177 innings, a 1.41 whip! And the Sox want top prospects, plural. Because he is cheap (8 million this year and next).

He is not the solution, there is no solution. There are NO aces available in the beginning of the season. That should speak volumes as to why the Sox want to trade their "ace" Cease, they don't view him as a difference maker or part of the future if they want to trade him before start of the season, with 2 years of cheap control. HARD PASS

Sign Bauer and put him on a fucking leash, and hope Cole can come back by July. OR
Mash your way through the season and trade for Jose Ramirez to play 3B and try to make a pitch for Clase and have a super pen without giving up Jones.

First it was Judge being sore from spring training, now he is having an MRI. They must have Cole's MRI results by now.The fact nothing was said yet probably means it isn't good news.
I read they are having it reviewed by multiple doctors before announcing anything

I like that plan. Always liked Ramirez, and Clase is the best closed in the game right now. Better than Hader who I don't think could handle New York

I wouldn't be surprised. He was hitting 100 mph on the gun a lot last year.
Guys who throw 100 these days almost always need TJ at some point, examples are Severino and Syndaegard
A lot of vague reports on Cole, can't be good based on how long its taking for actual diagnosis and that he is seeing multiple specialists.

But my question is now, what do the Yankees do? I mean they dropped a ton of talent to get Soto.

Why is Bauers not an option? Clevinger? Lorenson?

Cole is not coming back, and if he actually does, he won't be Cole'2023.

Whats the move here? All in? or punt and move pieces like Gleybor, Holmes, Soto, and others at deadline if they out of it. Then re-group in 2025.
