MLB Hot Stove League 2023-24

A lot of vague reports on Cole, can't be good based on how long its taking for actual diagnosis and that he is seeing multiple specialists.

But my question is now, what do the Yankees do? I mean they dropped a ton of talent to get Soto.

Why is Bauers not an option? Clevinger? Lorenson?

Cole is not coming back, and if he actually does, he won't be Cole'2023.

Whats the move here? All in? or punt and move pieces like Gleybor, Holmes, Soto, and others at deadline if they out of it. Then re-group in 2025.
I can’t see them punting on the season, especially with Soto in a contract year. I’d like to see them go after Clevinger no matter what’s up with Cole.

I think the most enjoyable moment for me would be beating those assholes in a playoff series. George would make that happen. Hal will make the nightmares continue. I can totally see Snell and the Astros sweeping us in October.

Not sure if anyone saw the interview with Cole today on YES, you could see the relief on his face. Very upbeat, puts me at ease a bit in a sense that maybe he can get through this and come back strong in June/July.

Still need 2 starters in my opinion.

Spencer Jones - WOW! 2 today and they weren't cheapies.

Gil looks pretty good too.

Better ending to the week then the beginning of the week in Yankee-Land !

Now you see why they don't want to trade Jones for a rental player.
And power is only part of his game. He is a legitimate CF and base stealer.

I always liked Gil, I just thought he needed more experience. Remember his first three ML starts he didn't give up a run.

Blake Snell to Giants 2,yrs $62 mil
Good, really didn't want him.

Now DJ is hurt and will miss time. That sucks because we have very little infield depth.
This is why they were interested in signing Gio as a backup. But he wanted more guaranteed playing time so he went with the Tigers.
Guess we will revisit him at the deadline in July possibly.

Snell didn't move the needle much for me either, he just doesn't go deep into games. Crazy he turned down 150 million from Yanks. Lost 90 Million because his agent is a greedy cock sucker. Nobody was ever giving this guy a 9 year contract. Not sure how he got caught up in believing that. Where does Monty go? Houston?

Amazing how banged up they are already, Judge, DJ, Cole, Peraza and Kahnle.

I keep reading Josh Harrison possible to Yanks for some infield depth. I liked him a few years ago, scrappy type with some speed, but I think his better days are behind him. Never know though when they put those pinstripes on.

Was cool seeing Torre in Yanks uniform being a part of Monday's game, Never liked how it ended for him in NY, or him going to LA.

Hoping Monty goes to Philly, or anywhere out of the AL.

Harrison might be a stop gap at 3b but not sure how much he has left.

I've been a fan since the late sixties and 3B is one position they have never really produced a star player.
In fact the only regular player I remember them producing from their farm system was Mike Parialuro (sp?) and he was deeply flawed.

Mike Pagliarulo aka "Pags" 1985-1988/89
Best year was 1987, 32 hrs. Everyone hit that year in that team, just couldn't pitch.

Another guy we did develop but traded who turned out to be pretty good was Mike Lowell.

Forgot about him
The story there was the original plan was to let Brocious walk after 1998 and give Lowell the job. But after he was the WS MVP they gave him a three year deal and dealt Lowell to the Marlins for shit

I hear ya about Snell. But they need a starting pitcher, even before this Cole injury.
