And Jerry Lee was an amazing piano player with every bit the virtuosity of Elton John
and Billy Joel if not more so. Of coarse they all hair own style. That said .. none of these guys are concert masters like Liberace or Van Cliburn.
Jerry Lee Lewis had a southern rockabilly piano style. He, along with Little Richard (close friends) turned the piano into a rock and roll instrument which was unknown prior thereto.
Jerry Lee Lewis, son of a poor Louisiana farmer, who mortgaged his farm to buy Jerry Lee a piano, after seeing a budding musical talent.
On that same piano, he and his cousin, Jimmy Swaggart (famous televangelist) learned to play the piano together.
And, I agree with you,
@pokler, although Jimmy Lee was a great pianist, as well as Elton John and Billy Joel, I wouldn’t pay money to hear them perform the Beethoven Sonatas. Although, I would sit in anticipated rapture to hear the rock maestro of Yes, Rick Wakeman, perform them.
