Another Sucker For Nostalgia

What fond memories. Those were care free days indeed and there really was more sex in the city back then. I’m unfamiliar with many of the aforementioned places. However in 1976, (my first provider experience), there was a dynamite incall place on 3rd and 50th called Tahitia that had a cocktail lounge, with a nude dancer on stage, where you could get acquainted with the providers before making your choice. Next door on the second floor there was a great incall place that advertised in SCREW as “The Fifty Dollar Experience”. Back then anonymity was not an issue, all the Johns mingled in the waiting room with the providers.
If I felt like slumming there was “Lucky Lady” on 45th, off Times Square that offered “half & half” for $25 and if I really really felt like slumming there was “Tanfastic” for $15 on 42nd St. between Times Sq. and 8th Ave. Has anybody else experienced those spots?
Which brings to mind another question...What is the least amount of money that you’ve ever paid for FS???

Regards,
Optimist

Optimist: I don't remember the Tahitia in particular, but there were several somewhat similar places on the East Side in the upper 40s and lower 50s. There was a large one (no dancing) just off Third Avenue (maybe Second?) with "Caesar" in the name, and there was a small one upstairs on the corner of Second and 51st or 52d. There was a gentleman straight out of The Sopranos presiding, who took your money and to whom you identified the lady of your choice. It was pretty blatant--there were guys on the sidewalk handing out leaflets saying "Check it out!" One day in the very early 1980s they were shuttered and stickers from the Midtown Strike Force of that era appeared on the doors.

Rajah: Back in the late seventies this city was splattered with brightly lit upscale sex emporiums and stop & pop brothels. The place you refer to was called “Caesar’s Retreat” and it had a few locations around the city. That place and “Sparticus”, (I’ve never been in either), were luxury brothels with glittzy exteriors with back lit pictures, on display, of the interiors. The stop & pop shops with, hawkers shilling them, were littered all around Times Sq. and they were really sad. I think they would make a place like Episodes seem like the Ritz Carlton. Al Goldstein used to say that, “those places had all the charm of a pay toilet”.

Nostalgia

I remember a great place that was located on the corner of Third and 51st (2nd Floor) called the Harem. It was a "Leisure Spa", that 's what they called them back then (this was the early 80's), and it was down the street from Tahitia. There would be guys outside handing out flyers, so these places were not discreet at all. The Harem had a sort of Arabian motif, and the girls all dressed in these short costumes like harem girls, and the rooms had a lot of pillows and curtains. $50 got you full service, BBBJs were common back then. Usually gave like a $10 tip. The ladies were all very attractive. When you came in, you'd pay the money to a guy in the front, then go into a locker room where you would change into a towel. You'd come out , and sit in a lounge, where you'd meet the ladies. Other guys would be sitting there as well, and you would make your choice. I was surprised how long these places lasted since they were so blatent. Turned around and one day LE shut the all down. I think there were like 5 or 6 places like this back then, all within a few block area between Lex and 2nd Aves in the 40's and 50's. With Tahitia , there were two on the same block (3rd Ave between 50 and 51st). It's now a Korean deli, with the dining upstairs, where back in the day, I used to dine ! These were great days, and I was only about 17 at the time.

I also did the Lucky lady on 45th back in 1981. Great BBBJ for $25. I think that was one of the very last classic Times Square massage parlors. I came in at the very tail end of the great Times Square sex bizaar as a horny teenager. Back then I used to live in the Melody burlesk on 48th, back when there would be guys lined up to eat out that weeks Porno Star. The Melody later became the Harmony, but that's another thread ...

Here is a place that the old timers should remember. Although it may have gone by different names, we called it the 10/40 Club because the price was ten dollars and fourty cents (the joke was that the 40 cents was tax). It was on west 46th street in a 20 or so story otherwise abandoned building. A good portion of young men from many ny neighborhoods lost thier virginity in that place in the 70's. They woud have maybe 20 girls per night/shift each of whom turned tricks continuously (BBBJTC; FSBB) all night. On any given weekend night the first floor had at least a hundred guys waiting at a time. Each girl had a small room on an upper floor accessed by an elevator without a door (you could watch the dark empty floors go by on your way up). It seems incredible when I thiink about it now but that was NY in the 70's.

Azzure - I wonder if that place was the Luxor Baths on 46th between 6th and Bway. It was an abandoned hotel. I went there in 1982 I think it was. Paid some low price at the front, rode up in an elevator, and there was a floor where the ladies worked. You picked one, and went in her room. I remember a BBBJTC there with a 30ish Latina. place is now a Comfort Inn

JJ: Right, NOW I remember the Tahitia. And the upstairs joint was indeed the Harem. Don't remember harem costumes though. You took a shower and they gave you a plastic bag to wrap your wallet in so you could keep it with you in the shower and not get it wet.

Bootie Call
Definiton: someone of the opposite sex (not a g/f,b/f or provider) who you can call for some no strings, no emotional ties SEX !!!

Origin: It wasn't from me that for damn sure. I believe it's from the Hip Hop Culture.

Peace Out

The only BAD place I've ever been to was HELLFIRE in NYC. Was it wrong for me to attend with a 19 yr old female? No I just watched. Loved the experience but totally not my cup of tea. Also saw a Bondage Act the few times I was there. Another interesting experience. I rather be secluded with one female all to myself, soft lights, scented candles, hormones raging, lots of contact ............

Peace Out

At the height of the era things were so blatant that there were regular stage shows of live BBBJ and BBFS and BB Greek at several of the porn theaters, and more intimate close up and personal such shows at the big porn palace at 8th and 42d.

In that pre-VCR age there must have been a dozen or more porn theaters in the Times Square area. One on 7th at about 48th had a sign at the box office: "Lift Briefcases Over Turnstile." Which said something about the clientele.

Good old days

Back in the early 80's , you could go to the Melody Burlesk, and eat out as many ladies as you wanted. They would have porno Stars every week, and all the big names of the day would show up. Some stars would allow no customer contact, others would allow some touching, and some would just lay out on the stage and let the crowd dine to their heart's content. Just to think that only 15 or 20 years ago, these places were open, and they were right off the street, not underground or hidden. That's how I spent my horny youth, getting lap dances in the Melody (later the Harmony) Burlesk

Just got around to reading last Sunday's Times. From the piece about Les Echangistes it looks like the Good Old Days are alive and well, to some extent, in Paris.

Diamond Lil's

Anyone remember this place? Think it was on Canal. Girls danced nude on a stage with chairs all around it. I don't think there were any limits there.

Diamond Lil's

Hmmm- Hmmm.Remember it well. I was a regular.
In the back up the stairs by the bathrooms, anything went.
One night as I was leaving, One of the girls asked for a ride home. To my surprise she lived 3 blocks from me. Saw her privately for about 3 months until she moved to LA.

There was also another private club in the area that I went to, you had to have a password to get in. The men would sit and play cards and drink until they saw a lady they liked and then would take her in the back or get a BJ right at the table. Don't remember the name of it. They were both great places in the Canal street area.
