Coyote Busted?

All points noted, Hyabby, and no, I'm not too worried about my immediate situation, at the moment. But the fact that Ashcroft has said that a war on obscenity is a personal mission for him, should worry us all: this is the guy who's pushing hard, all the time, to expand information-gathering rights for the government, and not only limit our right to know what's being gathered, but that it's being gathered at all...
I've been yelling, loud and long, about this very thing on forums all over the place [MSNBC, CNN, MSN, etc] for ages now.

"Those that would give up liberty in the name of security deserve neither." Benjamin Franklin.

Ashcroft scares the shit out of me. Always has. Anyone who truly believes that God speaks directly to them, so that they can translate His words for the rest of humanity, scares the shit out of me.

I keep saying to myself, "Self. This is a man who lost an election to a dead person. How the HELL did he very get to be Attorney General?!?"

The answer to that question is the scariest part of the whole equation. [I pray, as fervently as Pat Robertson prays for what he terms "liberal" Supreme Court justices to kick off, that Bush be a one term President]

Actually, to most people, vices are those things that when others do them they are abhorant, and when they do them they are charming personality quirks.

Actually, no.

However I can think of any number of others I would have picked.

McCain, chiefly among them.

Bush is a boob. I have always thought so. I thought it when he was a frat boy run amoke. I thought it when he was a failing, bailed out, business man. I thought it when he was falling over himself as Governor of Texas. I thought it as he stumped for the highest office of this land. Nothing he has done, to present, has given me cause to change my opinion. Sorry if that offends your sensabilities.

Devin, to be precise, this sad situation points DIRECTLY to how that is NOT the case.

The action against the afflicted Ms Coyote was brought about by citizen complaints regarding the activity within the neighborhood in question.

P.S. I did recognize the name used [Animal House] and therefore presume your response to be tongue in cheek.

My reply was serious only because I truly dread some of the directions this country has been taking of late. So, I find it hard to be funny about it.

Me too! Too bad we don't have a recall process in the Union a la California where 12.5% of the voters can initiate a Total Recall!

Thorn,

I thought it was agreed that there was two subjects that really shouldn't be discussed on PMB's. These two subjects being religion and politics.

How does the choice of a screen name change my thoughts and opinions?

The pendulum (law enforcement, the courts and the justice syatem) swung to the left during the Clinton administration. It's about time it swing back toward the center and the right.

I'll betcha that there's a whole group of escorts who think as you do. They wish sites such as Utopia Guide, ***, JAG, TBD and others never existed so that their scams and ripoffs could never be reported.

And I'm sure that the following thought will go over real big with some on this board. That being that CoyoteGirlJosi has no one to blame for her arrest but herself. Seeing guys in the house and neighborhood where she lives.

Who do you report a hooker's scam to, the Better Business Bureau?

I'm curious as to whether anyone knows how many clients JC was seeing at home, generally? Although certainly in a suburban area, anything at all is more likely to be noticed, I suppose... Oh, the imperfect art of risk assessment...

Actually, real escorts have only benefited from the Internet and review sites. A woman who essentially pretends to be an escort in order to fleece a man isn't an escort, she's a grifter...

But the extent to which information can be harvested from these sites is definitely something to think about, and continues to be one of my primary reasons for not advertising or building a web page, and staying as UTR as possible (my big mouth blabbing all over the place around here notwithstanding)...

Cat,

If you go back and read DevinDDD Taylor's post from earlier this morning, you will see that she thinks that sites such as UG where reviews and contact info are posted should not exist because they lead to arrests.

My post that you quoted points out that sites such as UG and others should exist to inform the consuming public of scams and ripoffs.

And do you think that they would have experienced such a boom in business as the internet has brought them?

Learn the golden rule "Don't sh-t where you eat".
Why would anyone bring customers to their house in a residential neighborhood? Especially someone who has had incall at various places in NY and NJ. That person should know better.

Actually, I find the vast majority of your "blabbing" quite refreshing. [and this is from a fellow not known for throwing "fluff balls" at posting providers]

After several years under Dub rule, I've come to the conclusion that he's exactly the kind of leader that Americans deserve.

I DID NOT say that these types of sites should not exist! I said that all of this posting about a certain provider can cause EVEN more harm to her. Let the thread die or better yet deleted. It can ONLY cause more harm to HER.

Uh, first of all, I was kidding about the BBB...

And one of my earlier posts makes reference to the fact that the Internet has been nothing but good for business, in many, many ways. But obviously, so much public information as the capacity to blow up in your face, or at least add additional fuel to the fire. The "Duh!" factor can't be overstated, in this case.

For myself, I'm not at a point yet where I feel the extra business is worth the risks, although I'm very much in flux these days and nothing is written in stone. My emotional temperament is such that there's a real limit on how many people I can see without losing my equilibrium and opening the door to some darker places, so volume, in and of itself, is not a primary goal for me.

For all of its many irritating aspects, there is a real upside to sites like Craig's List from a UTR perspective. You can control your own advertising, to some degree, take down a post if you're getting to much ****** to handle, even target a demographic to some extent: posting during business hours during the week, especially if you're posting something articulate, well-written and not doing it frequently, will generally net a very different response -- heavy on white collar types being passive-aggressive at work by trolling sex sites, :) -- than a post that goes up on Saturday. You also decide whether to share photos on a case by case basis, and of course, there's a much lesser risk of someone you know in civilian life stumbling across information about you that you'd rather they didn't know...
