Margaret was the snob who needed a heated barn for her horses. i think she married the royal air force (?) captain.

Elizabeth is the queen. the one who brought the term "white trash" to the royal family....... she married a drunk.

you must be of royal blood (a "stewart") to become a king or queen. contrary to belief Diana never would have been a "Queen".

She was the "Queen Mother" ( mother of the Queen, that being Elizabeth II ). She "got into the business" by marrying Prince Albert ( at least that puts us slightly back on topic here ).

I'm kinda wondering why they named a piercing after Prince Albert.

As happy as I am to see a Stuart boomlet on a whoreboard:

1) Elizabeth became queen, rather than remaining Duchess of York (which she would have preferred), when her excerable brother-in-law abdicated. (That made the Duke of York -- Bertie -- George VI.)

2) As the wife (consort) of the new king, she was styled "queen." (Unlike Queen Victoria's husband/consort Albert, who was styled "prince.")

3) Upon Bertie's death from cancer, her daughter became Queen Elizabeth II, and she became "Elizabeth, The Queen Mother." (She remained "Queen Elizabeth" in a kinda/sorta way -- by the same rules which kept the Diana, Princess of Wales from *ever* being rightly called "Princess Diana.")

4) ozzy -- If Margaret had married the RAF captain, she might have had a tolerable life. She didn't.

5) ozzy -- I think "white trash" is the wrong idea altogether. (Without defending Louis Montbatten's philandering nephew, "Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl but she hasn't got a lot to say.")

6) The Queen Mother was the greatest snob of them all -- perversely, as she was a Scot -- and a profligate drunkard -- which, I suppose, was her birthright.

P.S. ozzy -- Anyone who keeps good horses in an unheated barn is an idiot.

Correct you must be of royal blood to rule! Diana would have always been Princess of Wales.

Diana wasnt even Princess Diana, she was Diana Princess of Wales! Though many called her Princess Diana, it was not her correct title.

Charles could remarry and his wife would not be hold any royal title. She doesnt have royal blood and she is not the mother to William.

As far as I am concerned they are all snobs! I grew up in an English colony, and I had to sing God Save the Queen. The money we spent had her face all over it! I grew up loving the royal family and holding them with a high regard!

Now as an adult I see they were nothing but a bunch of snobby royals who cared nothing about anyone but themselves.. But thats just fom my experience! You have no idea how much they are shoved down your throats if you live in a country ruled by them. Its like being brain washed.

Sorry slink, I lost it about 10 years ago.

I have been told you can hear it from time to time. Its a mixture of Austrailian and English! But if you wanna hear a sample of it call me ;)

i knew there was something with that RAF captain.... so Margaret married the commoner? also wasn't the stink made about the heated barn because someone attempted divert funds or to make the poor tax payers flip for the rather expensive bill?

and actually it wasn't Elizabeth but her children who married the white trash (fergie* & co.) and brought them into the royal family. . . . however, that was something mom could have put the brakes on but she was too worried that diana was more popular than her to pay attention and didn't see it coming.

* any former member of the royal family who gets caught on film fucking around behind her husbands (the prince) back with her BF and with her children playing in the background yet, and then has to resort to doing weight loss commercials in the US..........is white trash in my book.

PS..... i knew there was a drunk somewhere in that mess.

PPS...... as for kimmie growing up in an english colony... that isn't too hard since there's english colonies all over the world, including canada for a long time. how's that old saying go...."the sun never sets on the brittish empire"

speaking of Louis Montbatten... wasn't he the one who the IRA blew up on his yacht off the coast of scotland? i always thought that was their biggest mistake. wasn't he their only friend with clout.

OK.....lets get back to bashing those lousy french.

Kimmie,

You're missing a great marketing opportunity. Re-cultivate that accent ( anyone think that Kissenger really still had that heavy accent after all those years ? Or Madonna with he faux Brit accent ? ) and claim to be the only Aborigine escort in NYC !!!!! ( you think anyone will know you look nothing like one in this town ? It's a fantasy...you could call yourself a Martian and guys will believe it ! ).

Slink I am not in NYC.. But thanks for the idea.

Lets see.. Vanessa From the British Isles wants to give you the royal treatment. YEAH! I can bring my accent back in a heartbeat.

I met a client who was from England and he told me he can tell I am of english decent because of my proper english! He seemed to be really turned on by it and hes from England! Oh imagine the American men!

Thanks for the idea slinky..dont even think about asking for half a cut... ;)

True, but its hard to get worked up over.

5) ozzy -- I think "white trash" is the wrong idea altogether. (Without defending Louis Montbatten's philandering nephew, "Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl but she hasn't got a lot to say.")

"I'd like to tell her that I love her a lot, but I'd have to get a belly full of wine."

6) The Queen Mother was the greatest snob of them all -- perversely, as she was a Scot -- and a profligate drunkard -- which, I suppose, was her birthright.

So few people actually acknowledge that. She was supposed to have a right lousy temper as well.

P.S. ozzy -- Anyone who keeps good horses in an unheated barn is an idiot.

He's got you on that Oz. Horses are quite susceptable to respitory infections. Especially pure breds, for some reason.

thorn....

i wasn't saying that horses don't need a heated barn, only who's responsibility it was to build and maintain it (as well as the horses). if they were her horses then the tax paying public shouldn't be paying for them or their up-keep.

I don't know why I am bothering to respond, but a) see ozzy's 6:32 p.m. post, and b) insert a sarcasm emoticon after my phrase "boomlet."

Antidisestablishmentarianistically yours,

I don't know why I'm bothering to point this out, but it was Ozzy's post I was correcting. I don't need any emoticons to know that you know what happened to the Stuarts.

i know about king george I (george of hanover) and the German royal family. "you know what i meant" i was making the point that Diana didn't have royal blood in her and thus would never have been in the line of succession for the throne, and thus never have the title of "Queen".

or how bout the fact that the name was changed from hanover to windsor during WWI because it sounded too German.

It is insane to be discussing this, but that's actually incorrect. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother didn't have royal blood, and she received the title of Queen. So would Diana have, if her marriage (and life) had lasted. I don't think it's a matter of blood that keeps consorts out of the line of succession; I think it's the system that consorts don't succeed -- royal or not.* I think all female consorts of English Kings are called Queen, as Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was. It's the male consorts who are only called "Prince" (like Prince Phillip or Prince Albert).
____________________________________________
* Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was the first "common" consort in modern times. But she was hardly the first consort who didn't succeed her spouse upon the spouse's death.
