It's funny, everyone think Vald Jr is such a stud and he gets a lot of publicity because who his dad is.
Not that he isn't but....
actually Alonso has been out performing him over their careers.

Both came up in 2019 and both play 1B so it's a good comparison.

Let's look at Games, HR, RBI BA/OBP/SP/OBPS

Pete
559 157 408 .260/.347/.536 .833

Vlad jr
533 109 325 .285/.359/.503 .863

So since Alonso came into the league, he and Judge are 1 and 2 in homers.

DeGrom needs Tommy John surgery. OUCH
Addition by subtraction. Close call……
He's done. In his heyday there was HOF talk but I don't think he has enough great years.

Sad this generation can't stay healthy. Sales looks done too. He was totally dominant at his peak. It seems the more "science" they bring into it the worst it gets.

Miserably.

This team is tough to watch without Judge.
I put it on last night because I haven't seen Sevy pitch this year and was curious why hee is getting lit up.
First thing that jumps out is he doesn't look like he is in shape. He seems heavier than in the past and not in a good way.
Velo is definitely down on most of his fastballs. Topping out at 97 when he used to hit 100 easily. And the 97's are that frequent.
His slider is non-existent and his changeup isn't fooling anyone. Probably tipping it again.

The lineup is horrible.
I like Bader but not as a cleanup hitter.
Rizzo hasn't been the same since he hurt his shoulder and now his swing is all messed up as O'Neil pointed out last night.
We all know Donaldson is washed up, he is officially the worse hitter in the league but DJ is right there with him.
Stanton? An embarrassment.
The rest of the lineup are guys who would be good bench pieces but not starters for a contender

All said, they are still in line for a WC so they won't be sellers at the deadline

Hey a week ago the Mets were left for dead but look at them now . That's baseball .

Getting their fans all worked up and believing they will make a run.....mwah hahahahahaha.....They suck like that fuck boy Lindor!
Just setting those fans up for more heartbreak!!!
You mean the Lindor that takes all the shit from media & Fans yet is quietly the best Shortstop in the NL.
You sound like Brandon Tierney
The #s at that position are not what they were 3-10 years ago. How's that Trea Turner doing or even Xander Bogarts & in the AL Other than Bichette & Franco Who's hitting better? Nevermind Defense.
Just Sayin!

Touche!
That said, I just don't like Lindor, never have. Personally , I would take all the other SS's you mentioned over him except Bogarts.
He's getting hot at the right time for the Mets now, see if he can do it when it matters in September.

Mets will still leave their fans at the alter wanting and needing more. This is CLASSIC Mets to hump their fans and break their hearts in the very end.

Met's only hope this season is for them to get Ohtani now. Which may be the only reason Eppler still has a job.
Think about what he does to that lineup and the pitching staff.
1. Senga
2. Verlander
3. Ohtani
4. Scherzer
5. / 5.5 Quintana / Petersen
Verlander & Scherzer both are older and needed time to adjust to new rules & Pitch clock. 2nd 1/2 they will not be CY Young caliber but probably settle into a 2.7 & 3.10 era respectively from here out. They becomme the 2-4 starters. Senga is figuring out how to adjust to american game and contues to become the#1 Ohtani slides in at 3 spot. Quintana comes back and only has to be a solid 5th starter. Now Petereson either proves he can be a 5 and unseed Quintana or Spot starts to keep Senga Fresh every 6th day. Lest him & Megill head to the Bullpen which is now enhanced and become the new Seth Lugo.

Lineup becomes:
1.Nimmo CF
2.Lindor SS
3.Ohtani DH
4.Alonso 1B
5.Alvarez C
6.Tommy Pham LF
7.McNeil 2B
8. Marte RF
9. Baty 3B
If Either McNeil or Baty Struggle later in July. you bring up 1 or both kids(Mauricio /Vientos) BEFORE August1
McNeil may be done because of the lack of shift. He was able to exploit it better than any other hitter. But now can't seem to re adjust. And then he doesn't just get pissed off(which everyone perceives as intensity...he sulks which doesn't do him any good).

Wouldn't that be something!

If any owner in baseball can afford Ohtani its Cohen.
But I think he's going to the Dodgers, they made very little moves heading into this season. Think they saving their Dough to bring him in and be the face of the franchise.
