Viagra, Cialis???

From the article: According to a recent study of erection medication side effects during the decade from 1998 (the year Viagra was approved) through 2007, Viagra has been implicated in at least 1,824 deaths mostly from heart attacks. Cialis (approved in 2003) has been linked to 236 deaths, and Levitra (2003) to 121. In addition, the three medications appear to have caused or significantly contributed to at least 2,500 nonfatal heart attacks and other potentially serious heart problems, and more than 25,000 other potentially serious side effects, among them: mini-strokes, vision loss, and hearing loss." Worth it. LOL

This article is poorly written from a scientific point of view. The word Implicated is not an appropriate word for example. The terms normally used are associated or correlation and causation.

For example, mowing the lawn can be associated with heart attacks but the cause of the heart attack is heart disease — albeit the attack may have occurred sooner or later anyway but more likely during a time of the physical exertion such as mowing the lawn.

Similarly V or C can be associated with heart attacks but the cause may be the underlying heart disease with the attack perhaps initiated by some type of "physical exertion" that occurs typically soon after one takes the drug.

Another example: statistically heart attack rates are higher on Mondays than other days of the week. This association may have more to do with the stress of the start of another work week on those people that have heart disease than it has to do with Mondays; perhaps, for a given population under study, if the workweek started on Tuesdays (say Tues-Sat as opposed to Mon-Fri) the increase may occur on Tuesdays.

Drugs treat symptoms but not the underlying cause of the problem. That being said, many can appreciate the drug's alleviation of problematic symptoms but it is not a long-term solution to the problem.

From time immemorial, men have sought to increase sexual potency. In every culture, there are remedies to make a man virile. Modern science has tested these folklore remedies and has discovered scientific evidence in their composition that support the ancients' theories. Usually these natural products are loaded with testosterone or precursors to testosterone or other chemicals such as dopamine, citrulline, et cetera or simply super-nourish the body so that sexual activity becomes the natural desire of a healthy organism in a state of exuberance, desiring to procreate.

But, I am not ignorant of the fact that popping a blue pill is so convenient and so cheap and works with such immediacy and efficiency that it seems to render the past remedies as archaic. Hence, the ancient solutions with less side-effects are now arranged by science to be sold and taken conveniently. Even they have their side-effects, especially if it is composed of extracts. I once took Peruvian Maca and my heart was beating like a race-horse. But foods and herbs categorically have far less symptoms when compared to drugs.

In my younger experimental days when I liked to try everything that hit the market, as soon as I saw side-effects, it was over and it got flushed down the toilet. It made no sense to put something in my system that could cause a future severe chronic problem.

I once went cold-turkey with just a really good sexually-oriented food consumption program and sexual power returned in a more powerful holistic way. But that took study, time, patience and the kind of personality that likes to study on his own body. We all have different personalities and upbringings. If you are a normal American and working hard, you probably just don't want to devote that kind of time and patience to the matter and a quick pop of a pill on paper seems to be the answer.

Interesting to note that since the advent of the blue pill culture even the ancient cultures that used animal penises and testicles of sea lions and horns and other body parts of animals as aphrodisiacs has been curtailed drastically. So many animal lives have been spared by the drugs. Even some of the die-hard health fanatics simply favor the pill's convenience and efficiency.

Having perused through this thread periodically, does anyone have any suggestions on food forms or combos that help with the libido?
I am not into ANY herbal remedies (Don't trust) and I don't take ANY pills/pharmaceuticals. The obvious myths are oysters and chocolate, just wondering if any of you Tom Cats have had any luck with forms of food/combos, organics, things like that.

Thanks for any help in advance :)

The study of aphrodisiac (libido-enhancing) foods are quite elaborate, from many cultures. However, most of them have come to a grinding halt due to modern chemicals and GMO's which have diminished the quality of foods that were once so potent libido-boosters. But you can still seek out good quality. Thus you have the popularity of pills and such.

Prior to the modern age, men were uncontrollably potent to the point that it created cultural problems in marriage and society. But libido boosters always existed to compensate for hard manual labor and fatigue or for extra-marital affairs.

Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, known for his development of Kellogg's Corn Flakes, in his Battle Creek Michigan Sanitarium fed his patients his new product of pressed corn flakes as an "anaphrodisiac " (a substance to "REDUCE" libido) in his attempt to calm down the prolific uncontrollable sex life of the American male.

But nowadays, men and women are nearing closer to the androgynous state. Even women have big problems getting pregnant because of the changes in that once robust health that they once possessed. Many believed that prolific fertility was a sign of health in both sexes.

Hence, the new age of pills like V and C and L. (interesting to note that these impotence drugs were by prescription only and never meant as an adjunct to sex for already healthy men. Nowadays, young men take them. Very sad)

So, forgetting the pills which you renounce from either the pharmaceutical or herbal side, possibly a few tasty foods to keep you very strong are in order.

One that comes to mind is organic hummus. The chick pea (garbanzo bean) has always been reputed as a potency food. Black beans and most beans (try to find organic non-radiated) but avoiding soy beans which are extremely hard on digestion and avoid tofu but miso renders them more bioavailable. Dried Fava beans reign supreme.

Oatmeal, buckwheat (kasha, soba noodles) brown rice, pomegranate, (and its juice) oysters (unbelievably high in zinc, a precursor to testosterone) and clams, anchovies, quail eggs. (small speckled eggs sold in most Asian food marts) Most seeds, grains, nuts and beans which are usually high in minerals and B vitamins. Especially walnuts. You can dry-roast the raw nuts and seeds just a bit to make them more digestible. Avoid deep-fried and heavily salted bottled and canned nuts and seeds.

If you want to go hog-wild, boil a thick handful of horny goat weed (yin yang huo -- sold in any Asian herb store) in a half gallon of water for about 50 minutes until it reduces to about a quart and drink about 4 ounces before going to bed. Quite potent but will also increase the weight of the prostate as it begins to fill with huge amounts of hormones and sexual fluids, so be careful or avoid this extreme herb. (not for the faint of heart) But in reality it is as common as any wild weed or vegetable -- not rare at all. Pure Peruvian mountain maca powder is very potent and sweet to taste added to your oatmeal. Maca is just a dried root vegetable resembling turnip root.

Painkillers, alcohol, hydrocodone, morphine, heroin, cocaine, opioids will all act as libido suppressants. Avoid them if you want to get down.

Very interesting post Mugi.
Just an aside — Since older guys tend to be the ones in most need of erection help and those guys already tend ot have enlarged prostate wouldn't they be the last ones who would need "will also increase the weight of the prostate as it begins to fill with huge amounts of hormones and sexual fluids" ?
Ps wouldn't the combination of hog-wild with horny goat weed be sort of an oxymoron? Shouldn't it be horny pig weed?

Get the scripts. Millions of happy customers. Walking in loaded is the only way to fly.

Do you need a script?
As far as I can tell you need a script although some sites you pay a fee to talk to a doc who writes the script for the site. The next time you see your doc for something just ask. They treat it matter-of-factly and will just send the script to your pharmacy. Be sure to check prices 1st to determine which pharmacy to use. Stop & Shop pharmacy charged me $30 or so for 90 - 20 mg generic pills and the script should specify that dosage and sildenafil. My doc, bless his heart, listed 6 renewals - I renewed every 30 days so I ended up with a stockpile of 630 pills for under $300.

If you have Medicare (whether or not you have supplemental or not as they have to follow Medicare rules) you have to go this route. If you are under 65, i.e. not on Medicare, and have private issuance and can order V and just do a copay. Even when I had private insurance I still went with the generic w/o using insurance as I didn't want an insurance trail - plus just out of principle I went generic as regular V is insanely expensive to insurance company - like $800 for 30 50mg pills, another reason why Medicare , which is why US Gov't insurance, won't cover it, IMHO.
