Correct 40 is MLK hwy, which connects from the Bayonne Bridge and continues to the SI expressway near Victory Blvd.

MLK Expwy. is the old 440. The new 440 is the West Shore Expwy.

Still its in a borough thats 95% white, why didn't they use the name MLK for something like the Bronx or Brooklyn? Still you see the signs entering SI from Brooklyn, and also entering from NJ. Tells the visitors that this is a diverse borough, BULLSHIT, everyone moved to SI to get away from the minorities and crime invested streets of Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Dinkins probably named it. He hated Staten Island since the he received such as small vote. Just like he wanted to tolls on the Verrazzano to be paid going to Brooklyn which would have meant the backed up traffic would be on the Island spewing exhaust fumes instead of on the bridge in the open air. Dinkins was vindictive.
