spartacus is one my favorite movies.
Let me make a guess on your favorite scene.

Tony Curtis as Antoninus in the bath house with Laurence Olivier as Marcus Licinius Crassus playing who dropped the soap.

my favorite kind of nasty people?

the kind that CAN'T READ. (snarf)

my 2 favorites parts of spartacus:

when people start shouting "i'm spartacus."

when tony curtis says (w/bronx accent):

"the children of my master to whom I taught the classics."

This movie is on track to gross $300 mil+++ in the US. With international sales, and ancillary sales, Jesus could end up worth a $billion over the next 3 years.

And Mel owns the whole thing $$$.

Next thing you know, madonna, and her cronies will drop Kaballa and start worshipping at the Church of Gibson!

Honey, I'm off to my Kabbalistic Feng Shui Yoga session!

I doubt it. I figure celebreties usually gravitate to the flakiest pseudo-religions that let them do pretty much whatever the hell they want as long as the mirror in the bathroom is facing north.

Gibson's freaky pre-Vatican II sect might actually WANT THEM TO DO STUFF. Like go to church or pray or some crazy shit like that.
