Provider Sites With An Idea Behind Them

#21
I have one of "those" websites...simply because it was the fastest up, its temporary but I think its better than no site at all.

I think having music is the most idiotic thing a person can put on ANY website, it's annoying and intrusive. This is a professional site...not myspace.

I think that blogs can be good. I'm planning to use mine for erotic stories because no one cares what a teenager thinks about world politics nor do they care if my cat did something cute that day.

Skip the music, that's for sure. The blogs are a good idea - a way to get to know what a lady likes, dislikes, insights into her life and personality. Lots of pictures are a good idea.

Enjoy,

Chels

Interesting topic...

I have had my website since about month 2 of starting in this business. It was VERY important to me to be able to put across who I am and what I'm about so that I can attract the kind of men who will appreciate me and who I will enjoy being with!

I get a lot of compliments on my website as well as my blogs (I have two - one on a more public blog site and one of my own where I write more personal things.). I know both my blogs and my website have done a lot to get me business.

But, I do believe that you need to keep things updated and fresh - your website and photos. I have had my website for a little over a year and am already working on a new idea for a website makeover, which I will probably do in the beginning of 2008.

Lauren

P.S. I'm new here. : )

Lauren, welcome.

Why don't you talk a little about the process you're going through updating your site -- what you're considering adding, what you decided not to add, and who you're working with (not the name of the person, but how you found him/her and how the working relationship with your site builder works).

Your sight, for all intents and purposes, seems to be fine as a temporary solution. One thing I would suggest though is if you can, disable the feature that tries to add it to the viewers favorites. One wrong click and it can leave a trail behind that someone most likely wouldn't want followed.

LOL - I always get compliments on my site. And I think I tell women all the time, NO MUSIC. If you don't know its coming and you are at work or home browsing, - you got explaining to do. So I always say.

1. Clean, simple design. No Free sites, esp. if you are charging $300-500 per hour. A good site runs about $500-800***0. No frills and good design. You can even do it yourself these days.

2. Be original and creative. Don't steal someone's copy. Save it as an image to make it harder to steal.

3. No flash, maybe in the photo gallery, but it is really hard to view and you miss clients.

4. Don't ramble forever and ever. You guys want short and clean. I have a blog to ramble and talk, if you want to read it, then you will :)
Hear hear! FWIW, please only use flash if there is no other way to accomplish your desired goals. IMHO, the only compelling usese of flash are:

1.) games and animation, such as Zig_zag and Hamster Toss
2.) movies
3.) "capcha" type security
4.) dynamic data display, such as live stock charts.

Even at that, a lot of this can be accomplished by a clever designer using Javascript, Ajax, and CSS.

I am actually looking to convert my side back from Flash to HTML. I have many complaints about the load time.....thoughts?
If the site is well built, load time shouldn't be a huge factor in Flash. In other words, the designers should have taken this into account ahead of time and made certain decisions that can minimize load time (such as keeping the size of your photos/videos down). I would go back to your designer and present them with the problem -- the site is taking too long to load. Let them come back to you with some options.

A lot of sites these days use a combination -- Flash in areas where it is useful (usually in the areas of the site where you display video or want something animated), html (sometimes CSS) for just about everything else.

Wow, what a great thread! I love reading thoughts like these from the gents, it's incredibly informative and helpful when it comes to working on my advertisements and website design. I'm always looking to come up with something new and fresh, and most importantly that reaches the target audience!

I'm in the middle of a site redesign, thank for the food for thought guys.

I have a great webdesigner I work closely with, she does great work. After I started getting reviews in Vegas, I came out with a website the summer of 2007. We did a site redesign in the summer of 2008 after my move to Minneapolis. Now I've moved to Florida and we are aiming for a Spring 2009 new design release! I feel like each site she designs for me is better then the last and really reflects my personality. My fav part will be the custom blog. I have one now with the premade template on live journal, I think it definitly helps the gents when choosing their companion. It puts a personality behind a pretty face! Lots of girls have beautiful pictures, but if your curious about any substance try reading her blog or board posts for clues. If you click on an intellectual level it's bound to make the physical more intense, chemistry can be a powerful thing. ;)

I also love to get my creative juices flowing and sit down to write the text for my website. I do a complete rewrite for each website redesign. It's fun!

The hardest part for me in the creative process has been getting the professional pictures. I usually do snapshots with my digital camera, but would like some high quality ones for my site now. I've had a few cancelations and now with my travel schedule it's been hard to get something nailed down. Soon though, either during or after my Philly tour!

I can't wait to show off the final results. :)

Take care... xoxo Sophie

sites for providers.

Well I'm actually interested in creating sites for providers, alot of websites for providers look really god awful, I've worked in print design all my life but I want to make a career change to web and really willing to do it for a low fee..... Problem is how do I go about advertising this service to the ladies (or gentlemen for that matter). It's something that I am interested in doing, and hopefully help support my art as well.

For me what sells me sometimes on a provider is the presentation, I look at jewels ny as an example of good design and presentation for their clients.... granted they might have their issues... but it works. They have video presentations, easy to navigate galleries / interface and it helps a bundle with the photographs that they provided. Or some S&M sites as well.

Don't get me wrong most folks go to craigslist or backpage to see some girl of their choice regardless of site design, but some are just really freaking ugly. I hope I don't get banned for this because this person's name is the name of death here, but I remembered Amy Advertising's website, it did it's job it had her pictures, easy to navigate and looked good for a provider site.

Here's an example of a lousy site(s)

http://www.brittanybabe.com/

http://ashleyb.escortsite.com/

maybe it doesn't matter to some hobbyist but think the point of selling yourself and making it stand out is an important one.

Not All Free Sites Are "FREE"

This is why I think those who use a certain "brand" of site because it is free, do themsleves more harm than good. Yes, it doesn't cost anything out of pocket, but it costs more in lost biz. But in this biz, it seem like the supply side is the only thing on earth cheaper than the demand side ;).
We use escortsite.com, they have a basic free service, their entire service is optimized for the provider industry and they DIY.

However, we pay for the highest level of upgrades - which give us even more control and back-end info. My hubby once owned a successful web design business, while we'd love to get away from the "template" that is so obvious, the cost to replicate all the features we enjoy on the back end begins to scale rather quickly. Lastly, there would also be the cost of maintaining the backend software, which often guts updates, bug patches etc.

In the end, there's just too many features for such an affordable price that will will not build our own site until we can match (and improve upon) what we already have.

And for us, who provide only part-time, its hard to justify the investment.

I've written about how an original site both attracts more attention and offers the opportunity for a provider to tell us more about herself than the cookie cutter sites do.

But, on the other hand...

Here's a site that I just found ridiculously pretentious. The site design, for all I know, may be based on some sort of template. But the concept, this poorly written poem that runs throughout the site, is so utterly pretentious, it just makes my skin crawl. And I really don't know anything more about this provider after reading it than before I visited her site. (Other than that she's trying to project a "classy" vibe. But there are so many better ways of achieving that goal.)

(She is pretty, though. As a platform for simply showing off her pics, I suppose you could do a lot worse. I'd lose the poem and try to say something more useful about the services offered.)

Thing is, though, that site is useful.

It tells you something about the advertiser.

Maybe it tells you something that makes you not like her (it certainly makes me not like her). But it still tells you something.

How much better than yet another cooky-cutter site that gives you know idea whatsoever whether you'd like the advertiser.

Sorry, didn't see your comment earlier, JL. I disagree. The only thing the site tells me about the advertiser is that she likes bad poetry. And that she thinks projecting a pretentious image is "classy." But that, in and of itself, is yet another cliche, not unlike the cookie cutter sites themselves.

But if she buys that cliche, then she's revealed herself as stupid. Which is great.

If she thinks that site comes across as "classy", then she obviously lacks the sophistication that I, for one, demand.

How else am I supposed to find that out?

How to tell if it's a template

Question to all- From what I see, many provider sites are pretty similar. They all have tabs on the top, a photo gallery, an intro page, etc. When you look at one, how do you know it's original vs. template?
I'm thinking of getting a template site, because it's free, then maybe upgrading to a paid site if I save up for it.
Do templates turn you off a lot? What's a dead give-away of a template? I looked at a bunch of templates, and they are all so varied, you couldn't possibly see multiple girls using the same one, right?

It would depend on the site-and the prov. Some prov's prefer not to have any overhead and those are the sites that all look the same and have templates. Most of these sites let you customize your template and use html codes but there are limitations. A majority of prov's prefer to have a paid hosted site that is designed by themselves or a web designer and they usually invest in professional pictures. If you are PC friendly 'go daddy' is one site that gives you all the tools that you would need to build your own site and it is user friendly.
The best of Luck to you & a warm Welcome to UG!

I'm not sure if it's true any more that "a majority of prov's prefer to have a paid hosted site that is designed by themselves or a web designer." My impression is that the number of providers taking advantage of templated sites has grown substantially and may be the majority at this point.

As for AmberRose's question, "you couldn't possibly see multiple girls using the same one [template], right?" the answer is, by it's various nature, since it is a template available for anyone to use, yes, another provider could very well be using the template you choose. Even if you're very careful, and do some research to choose a template that no one (or, at least, very few) providers are currently using, there's nothing preventing anyone from choosing that template to use in the future.

Finally, to answer the question, "do templates turn you off a lot," it depends on the level of service. Certainly, a provider on the high end with a cheap, templated site would likely raise a red flag. On the lower end, it's almost expected these days. Remember, the site you put up is your calling card. Until someone actually contacts you, it's one of your only means of communication with potential clients (other than, say, paid advertisements). The impression it leaves will determine the type of client that responds to the site.
