I never went to such "swingers clubs" so I can't comment. But FWIW when I used to go to swingers club with my then SO (was in Plainview during the 80's and called Club Flipit ) they had a strict rule that no unaccompanied guys were allowed in - single girls were always welcome.

The "less profitable" part of your post is an assumption you made, I assume, w/o data from the clubs. The club I went to, a "better place" I guess, was more of a social club where like minded couples would spend better part of the night socializing, dancing, etc and running up a good sized bar tab. As I recall (kinda fuzzy now as it was long time ago) there was also complimentary hot and cold food served. The single women who showed up were either a third member of a couple (for example my SO's gf would sometimes tag along) or perhaps a woman whose SO was out of town and she wanted something to do on Saturday night. BTW - unspoken rule was that one member of a couple was not asked to go out w/o for swinging activities w/o the other, i.e., no cheating, so to speak, on their SO. As far as I could tell, no hired help were used to accompany a single guy so he cold get in - you knew who all the regulars were and for a new couple would be easy to find out if the guys and hired help were a real couple or not.

You are correct, without all of the financial data, it would only be an assumption on his part. But, based on simple math and logic, his assumption is probably correct. At least for one night. In the long run, probably not.

I had an old acquaintance. A friend of a friend type situation. That use to be a club promoter in Manhattan and Long Island. He found a niche doing Swingers nights. I ended up having dinner and drinks with him one night many years ago. I picked his brain about it. He basically said single men are the easiest to find and the most interested. That would seem obvious to me. So if you have your most common customer paying a $ 50 cover charge, you are probably going to have a good night at the door. The problem with that is, single men are also the most aggressive by nature. So single women and couples might be turned off by too many single men being there. So if you just let every single man in, you are probably going to scare away the single women and couples over time. Which would destroy your clientele. So he created a "waiting list", where he would filter through the single men. Only letting in the good looking ones or the ones with good backgrounds. It kept the creeps out.

Anyway, I haven't talked to him in a while. But, last I heard, he got out of the business. He said social media and online "meetup" sites kind of killed the market for a Swingers night.
