Many poker websites offer a 20% incentive for signing up to play for real money. Can I deposit $500, get my $100 (20%) and then withdraw my money? Can I do this twice a week to pay for the hobby? I doubt it but has anyone tried it?

You have to play a certain amount of raked hands to get the bonus, so that wouldn't work.

Almost all sites that I have heard about require that you play a certain number of raked hands before you get the bonus. So your strategy will not work.

If I'm going to play for cash, I usually take the 2 hour drive to either AC or CT.

I won't play for cash online, only the free games for a little practice. And even there, I try to avoid the pot limit or no limit games. With the ability to get another 2,000 chips if you run out, there are too many peolple playing lottery poker. That's were you always bet and raise the maximum, and hope the cards you need show up.

I've read somewhere that poker sites have special software that can detect collusion. It looks for suspicious play, and when it finds it, they monitor the suspects closely. It sounded a little implausible to me, but I didn't want to take the chance, because the penalties were pretty stiff.

But then I guess that would be the purpose of having somebody write such an article. Even if their cheat detection software isn't that great, it can still scare away potential cheaters.

poke her !

I'd rather poke her.....but have played PP and hit a few big pots and won a few tourneys. But its hit and miss on the tables. As for a difference in play from free play to real money, everyone tends to play much tighter in the real games.

It usually goes with the buy ins.... If you are playing a ten man table for 200 a man, you get pretty good players, USUALLY... I have played on a 500.oo table and it was really good competition...Hey 2500 first prize is sweet...

Looks like PP owes you some money from your "13-Apr-06 02:45 ET" success.

Do you keep track of your "in the money" percentages for each type of sit-n-go? breakdowns for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place?

I did awhile back, but lately I've been playing sit-n-gos for just a "change of pace" or to "take a shot" when I have a surplus in my bankroll... so I haven't kept good records.... if I did, I'd likely be disappointed... it seems like I come in 3rd place WAY too often, and not nearly enough 1sts....

I used to, but it's a lot of work. My opinion is getting to 2nd place is skill, but a lot of 2nd vs 1st place is luck. I guess that says something about my opinion of heads up games with high blinds.

I have been getting fucking railroaded at PP lately... I played 2 tournaments in the last 2 days, and a few 50 man sit and goes.... I was beaten by BS hands almost every time... KK against 77,,, flop K56 gues what the fucking 4 and Rived where???? 8 and 9!!!!! He hits an inside straight, and beats my set.... SAME THING in 2 of the sit and goes... I really believe that if PP wants you to win, you win, if not...you will get these BS beats, that seem to come in waves.... I am serious... I have had a normal run... pretty up on the last few months, but I would say the last week or so....BAAAAAMM right in the nuts. Just semi-venting, but does anyone else notice this type of bullshit??? I almost am afraid to play AA or KK, almost KNOWING some DICK is going to call with AJ, and hit a straight, or KQ, and hit running Qs to beat my KK.... AAAGGHHH..

I wish PP or Empire (now that they merged back with PP) would offer a do-able reload bonus.... I've been wanting to see how I stack up against the PP player pool these days.....

I am a FUCKING IDIOT!!!! After warning of the horrors of playing Black Jack on the PP site, I fucked up. I was at about 1400 at the beggining of last week, but I got pretty beat up, as I have said here, and was down to about 900 or so, I played a 50 man 50.00 game, and hit last night for 1st place. 750, so I was up to about 1595 after the fee and vig, I went to PP casino to tool around, and found three card poker... 2 hours later BIG ZERO in my account, needless to say, I have deleted the casino from my laptop, and will NOT be playing there anymore... Watch OUT for that frewakin place...stay with Poker, at least ya got a shot.....DO NOT PLAY PP CASINO GAMES !!!!

Just ranting....

Same thiung happened to me last week or two ago, but in the long run you win against these idiots. To some extent, it's why I like the single table shootouts: the larger the tournment, the bigger the change that some idiot will get lucky on you becvause you play "too many hands" for some moron no to hit one of them".

The other night, here was my last two hands on a 3 table shoot out down to the last table:

Hand one, I have Q9s, I'm UTG, I flat call the BB, there's a raise to 5 times the BB, a caller and the BB goess all-in, I fold, the other two call the all in. Of course my flush hits and I would have been the huge table leader, BB and raiser both show....... K9 off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next Hand I have pocket A's, raise all-in pre-flop, he shows AJ, flop KQ4, turn 9, river T.

Bit the only site I have played is PP. I still like it becaise there are so many idiots. I know I get a lot of bad beats because of it, but as long as you play enough, bad beats are in your favor in the long run, because they can't bad-beat you forever. the biggest problem I have is in the single table shoot-outs, at teh beginning you end up folding some winnibg hands because some idiot bets big every hand, and you don't know he's "one of those" ujtil you see him do it for a bit, so you fold and may get a little short stacked early on as a result. And even though he's never going to win, he can cause you to lose when he takes you chips and give them away to someone else a hand or two down the road.

On a lark, I "activated" a $75 playing bonus and deposited some cash into PP last week. The bonus said 750 raked hands (no deposit required), but they credited me the $75 after about 100 raked hands. (?). So, after playing played cash games and single table tournaments... can TOTALLY CONCUR with slinky about the weak/maniac play at the beginning of single-table tourneys. It actually might be good strategy to "sit out" (or only play high pocket pairs) for the first 2 rounds.... In some cases the table went from 10 players to 6 players by the end of the first round!
And yes I got 'bad beat'ed a whole heck of a lot. Last night I withdrew my original deposit + 3 measley dollars. (that's INCLUDING the $75 bonus).

I will probably play PP again when they offer a reload bonus again....
