What happened to the worldwide influence part of this thread...

Eddie Murphy clearly was a leader in comedy and so was Jerry Seinfeld in his own different way so they both had a great worldwide influence along with a few other names I have seen posted but most of the names have been disappointing to read.

Amy Schumer is just another run of the mill comedian getting some fame and notoriety with crappy cookie cutter humor and being cast in some good roles. The fool from bar rescue geesh what’s his world wide impact?

The only thing more frustrating than seeing the names of a bunch of Hollywood inflated airheads on a list of supposedly notable world wide influencers is that someone i would consider conversing with would actually know that all these people are from Long Island.

It’s like when people from New Jersey brag about being home to Camden the most dangerous city in the country.

I would love to hear about some business leaders, inventors or scientific inovators from your neck of the woods who might actually be influential on the future in a positive way????

In keeping with the Mouth's comment, I would place Les Moonves as one of the top business leaders from LI. He grew up in Valley Stream before moving out to California. Unfortunately, he will probably come to be known more for his fall from grace if the #MeToo movement has its way with him.

If we expand the thread to people who were not necessarily born and/or raised on Long Island (as I believe we should as we have thus far, including people who achieved only national celebrity and not worldwide celebrity) to people who have resided or worked on Long Island, then we can also include Roosevelts, Vanderbuilts, and Rockerfellas.

Also Nicolas Tesla with his Shoream lab and Albert Einstein who used to summer in Cuthogue and touted that he did some of his most ingenious thinking while on his small boat, relaxed and sailing on Peconic Bay.

And between the Hamptons and the "Gold coast" of Nassau County, there are a large population of notables.
