Mighty M Gaming (Monticello, NY) Part 1

#1
I took a trip up to Mighty M Gaming, the new video gaming facility in Monticello, NY this past weekend. They have about 1800 video gaming terminals (lots of different games plus video poker) in a refurbished section of the old Monticello Raceway. No table games as of yet but from my understanding, those are coming shortly in a brand new indian gaming facility. The machines seem to play "tight" up there but I did notice a handful of people were winning fair sums of money. Its really hard to beat any slot machine but they were fun to play and it did look and feel like a Las Vegas style slot hall type of facility. Actually..not too bad for slots.

I will review the bar scene in the next post.

Mighty M Gaming Part 2 - T & A

I have never really noticed too many many "passable" single females at this casino. However, the spring like weather this past weekend must have brought out the snatch. I had gone there with a date so I really could not do much exploring....but I did notice small groups of passable singles hanging out around the bar and some apparantly single girls sitting at the gaming machines. So maybe their is some potential here. Their was also live (mediocre) enterainment and a small dance floor in front of the bar. Maybe we should have a new UG contest...first member to score some snatch here wins !!! lol.

Anyway...not a bad experience and 85 minutes door to door from Manhattan.

i was at mighty M recently. first of all, I thought the band and singers performing, and I just cant remember the groups name, were pretty fucking good actually. country western stuff, all the singers were good.
the bar, huge bar, nice decor, saw a couple of women, I wont go into it here.
Im not a big slot player, but I had to check this place out.
I cashed in around 75 bucks, playing video poker, a rarity for me, I usually lose at any machine.
What I really didnt like, is that the points I got on my players card, although good for the food court and buffet, I couldt get a tee shirt in the front using my points. that just sucks. I dont need all that food, but I would have loved a tee, i sorta collect tees from all casinos, famous places, teams, events. (only tees I dont directly lay cash out for, like promotions, or giveaways)yada, yada......so I was a bit dissapointed.

if they bringin tables like Turning stone, or Niagra Seneca casinos, it will be a great place to spend a week during the summer agains, like in the 70s.
Maybe it will help revitalize the area, although, Im not sure if anything would bring back the Concord and Browns. but Id love to see it happen.

Since they reason they can have Casinos is because of the "Indian Reservation" issue (that is it, isn't it?) I wonder if they can do like Neveda with the County (in this case the Reservation) legalizing prostitution?

1. yes, that's it. they are all located on existing indian reservations or in the case of the St Regis Mohawks, new land behind Mighty M Gaming deeded in trust to the US government for TBO the Mohawks.

2. can't really answer the second question...in theory, US indian reservations are recognized as sovereign nations which do not fall under federal or state laws. they have their own laws, government and judicial system...so i guess in theory they can do whatever they want. its an interesting question though...whether they would do that or not. i can't think of any that have !!!

no worries though. once a major casino opens in Sullivan County...i am sure a wide range of providers will follow ! sorta like las vegas....before the Flamingo was built...i am sure providers were quite scarce. now look at it.

what famous real estate mogul said this "Build it and they will come" ?? lol.

seeker, it was a 25 and 50 cent machines. to me, they are all alike.
Joker poker, deuces wild, who remembers, I move around alot.
Its sort of like a night cap for me in AC. when Im done for the day, ill spend 5 -10 bucks sitting at a poker machine to unwind. one coin, one pull
or should I say, one credit, one play.
I enjoy the nickel poker machines multi plays.
I like to play 15 hands simutaneously.
Kills time, not alot of money

people dont view gambling as an illegal activity, not the majority at least.
if the tribes ever brought in prostitution, I think the tribe land would be invaded.
Never happen, or at least till the rest of the state legalizes it.
I think it should be legalized in Long Island. Most of the soccer moms are fucking so many men they at least should be able to pad their kids college funds.

I understand exactly what you are saying...I prefer blackjack myself so i do exactly the same thing.

I guess you stayed away from the $ 25 video poker macines...like I do, ...right ??

just kidding ...I stay far far away!

Good News For The Card Players !!!

Last week, Governor Pataki approved the new Mohawk indian casino to be built next to Mighty M Gaming. They are still waiting for final approval from the BIA ( Bureau Of Indian Affairs ) which is due shortly. However, I noticed this past weekend that several hundred pieces of heavy equipment had been moved into the parking lot. So it appears that construction will restart shortly.
It should take about 18 months to complete (site work and electrical was already completed).

This will be a complete casino with all card games. Estimated cost $800 million.

Rumor has it that Pimlico racetrack is next on the gaming agenda. I've heard from people in the racing community that unless Pimlico installs machines in the next few years there's a chance the middle jewel of racings triple crown will be moved to Saratoga by 2010. I hear Yonkers will have their gaming license any time now since the city of Yonkers has lowered their "cut" demands from 35% to 28% or 29%. Same for the Big A which will close without the machines, or give NYC a huge tax boost with them. OTB has been in decline for a decade so NY needs to fill a void. Indian casino's are about to become a thing of the past once this all goes thru. After establishing themselves for two or three years and the local govts get their fair share.... tables are inevitable.

sorry Ozzy..gambling is illegal in NYs

the harness tracks get an exemption because video lottery terminals are legal

so without an amendment to the NYS constitution and a vote on the amendment......all table games are illegal and won't be here for quite some time.

indian casinos are exempt frm NYS law.

More Info For Ozzy

on or about the third week of September 2001, the NYS legiestlature enacted a law which authorizes 5 indian casinos in Sullivan Cty and 1 in Ulster. This law which also covers full fledged legalized gambling in the state, if it ever occurs, grandfathers Monticello, NY and 1 other to be determined venue as the ONLY LEGAL areas in NYS that can have full fledged gambling if NYS laws banning (non -indian) casino gambling are ever amended. this law has been affirmed by the US Supreme Court.

so the bottom line is ...if the constitution is ever amended,,,Monticello and 1 other city will be the winners.

NYC, Buffalo, Albany, Long Beach, Southampton, Atlantic Beach have all been rumored as the final location. Unfortunately....its 5-10 years away !

I'm not wrong.

I never said gambling was legal. I said it would be in a few years or to some extent. How could a prediction I made about gambling two or three years from now be wrong?

Talk to me in three years and call me wrong.

I said Yonkers and the Big A would have a "gaming license" which is required to have machines, slots or whatever you want to call them or else they'd be out of business. They already have their machines sitting in storage on the site for about two years now. I said nothing about tables or legalized gambling being an automatic. What I basically said was.... after they'd established themselves for two or three years that NYC would realise the possible tax boost that they might not be able to pass-up the opportunity to install tables.

And the NYS legislature can and will enact anything with enough pressure from the voters or a need to fill a tax void. The Supreme Court has NO say in whether or not states can establish legalized gambling.

their are so many mistakes in this ..I'm not gonna comment further...what I said stands.

lastly, VLT's are "video lottery terminals" which are not slot machines..therefore they are legal because they simply did not exist when gambling was outlawed in NYS. old fashioned slot machines, bingo, sports book, card games are all currently illegal.

You can't comment cause you don't know what you're talking about. You're in my arena now so sit down and listen....

What's VLT's got to do with the video poker BMM played at a casino and what I'm talking about regarding slots and video slots, poker machines being installed at local racetracks....?

VLT's are basically lotto. I can't recall the name of the game, but it's now found in just about every bar in NYC where you pick 3-10 numbers on a lotto looking slip of paper, hand it to the bartender and you watch a video screen every ten minutes to see the results. You get a couple of numbers right out of 20 random numbers generated from a central computer system and you win five bucks for a dollar........ WOW!

We're talking about slots, video poker etc.... Not fucking LOTTO.

I said there were slots and poker machines sitting under covers at the racetracks (Yonkers and Aqueduct) and that they might be operative any time now and you're telling me everything I said is wrong. Where have you been living... this has been constantly in the news for a few years now and twice it was passed but held up cause the local govts were arguing over the exact cut. Fucking Yonkers built an entire building on the racetrack grounds to house this shit and Aqueduct gutted half their grandstand and now holds computer shows in the vacant area they are reserving for the machines.

Proof..... something so many here don't care about.

[snip]
"Later this year, the New York lottery expects Yonkers Raceway, just north of the Bronx, to open a racino with 3,000 slots. And casino giant MGM Mirage has been given authorization to open next year a huge state-sponsored slots facility at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens—the first casino-style gambling facility within New York City. MGM will operate the facility, and will get a percentage of the proceeds."
