Legalizing Marijuana in NYS

#61
It was on the second floor of Kings Plaza. We used to by Wippets and go back out to the car and take them. It was the same high as huffing Carbona rug cleaner. The stupid things we did in our youth.
But at least we weren't stupid enough to eat Tide pods.
I can’t picture the place but I’m sure it will come back to me—

What about “locker room” ?
An liquid that was inhaled - Gave an immediate powerful high

An NY managed to screw up and drop the ball..

NY, and NJ legalized recreational use/adult use around the same time.. NJ has a robust dispensary network...Mass has had a tax revenue generating recreational diapensary system in place for much longer...

Again NY fucked it up....... there are so few legal recreational dispensaries, that the black market stepped in to fill the void..

Go to any dispensary in NJ or Mass that is a reasonable distance for a NY driver, and in the parking lots are are a large percentage of cars with NY plates.. all that tax revenue is lost to NY

I own a home in rural Vermont.. either on my way there, or back, Ill stop In Great Barrington, Mass at one of the 6 or so dispensaries in this small town in the Berkishires...

NY could fuck up a wet dream
The Nj dispensaries are way over priced . I bought an 8th for $42 with taxes included. You can get that at a store in NYC for $25-30.

Nyers will always pay less and avoid these exorbitant taxes.

While on the subject of head ships, there seems to be a significant number of them opening up all over, selling what I believe are products used to get high..
Can someone enlighten me—?

Hookahs used to smoke cannibas?
Vaping products, which imho, are just as harmful —

I think people, and it's mostly low income poorly educated people, are under the impression that pot is totally legal and they can just light up a blunt wherever they want.

At times this summer the boardwalk in Long Beach smelled as bad as the boardwalk in Atlantic City.

I don't consider marijuana a "gateway" drug and I use my own experience to back my opinion. I was a 'pothead' for about six years and always resisted moving on to 'harder' drugs like cocaine or angel dust.

But that said if a person has a hereditary predisposition to substance abuse it might be a different situation.
I get where you’re coming from but it is legal. I never smoked cigarettes but I smoke a ton of weed.

I mentioned cigarettes for a reason. You have to tolerate it almost everywhere but city or state properties or a private one that bans it.

How many times have we all done the coffee cup filled with whatever going to a show. Or at the beach with sola (red cup) cup.

But there is always going to be that guy doing wherever and whenever he wants and that’s not right.

It kills me when I’m smoking in the yard and the neighbors kids come out. I have every right to stay out there and keep going. Out of respect I go inside.

To me that’s what killing us. No respect for one another. You have to be fair to your fellow man.

As far as legalizing it all it did was get folks that use to smoke smoking again as they had no source to get from.

Love this thread. And not directed at you Billy just replied to your comment.

As I read your comment I didn't take any of it personal.

I do question your statement that it's legal.
It's legal for you to smoke it in your yard but my understanding is that it is not legal for people to be smoking it on the Boardwalk in Long Beach.

Maybe one of the legal eagles can clarify that.

Agreed in that no drug should be illegal. It just doesn't work and simply leads to more crime as illegal elements get involved meeting the demands for drugs that are illegal.

Whether its tobacco, alcohol, pot or opiates or even drugs such as viagra and steroids — you want it as an adult, it's your body so knock yourself out. Just do it so it doesn't put anyone else at risk, e.g., driving a motor vehicle, don't expect me to pay to pick up the pieces.

I felt this way in college, and as a young, middle age and now older adult.
No drugs?

It is legal in NY State, but not federally. That's what gets people confused. Anywhere you can legally smoke a cigarette weed Is legal as well. I've been on the boardwalk smoking a joint talking to a cop about it's legality.

Any site from NY you go to will tell you the same. Here's a little excerpt as an example.
It is now legal for adults 21 and older to possess up to three ounces of cannabis and up to 24 grams of concentrated cannabis for personal use in New York. Adults may smoke or vape cannabis wherever smoking tobacco is allowed under the smoke-free air laws, with a few exceptions.
Cannabis use is not allowed in motor vehicles (even if they are parked) or in outdoor dining areas at restaurants. Smoking or vaping cannabis in prohibited areas may result in a civil summons and fine.
It is still against the law for people younger than 21 years old to possess, sell or use any amount of cannabis. Also, no one may legally possess more than three ounces of cannabis and 24 grams of concentrated cannabis, sell any amount without a license, or drive while under the influence or impaired by cannabis.

It’s not federal so and public owned spaces. Beach, parks, basically any public areas.

the FDA and DEA have concluded that marijuana has no federally approved medical use for treatment in the U.S. and thus it remains as a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law.

This means that should you get involved with the Feds for reasons other than pot and they find it in your possession, they can charge you under the federal law.

Note also that TSA’s screening procedures are focused on security and are designed to detect potential threats to aviation and passengers. Accordingly, TSA security officers do not search for marijuana or other illegal drugs, but if any illegal substance is discovered during security screening, TSA will refer the matter to a law enforcement officer.
