Fios Vs. Optimum

I couldn't post these final paragraphs as I lost my Optimum internet for past half hour.
Anyway.
I do not engage in pissing contests and if I came across as such my apologies.



Ps. As a funny aside one of the older guys Mid- 80's at my gym pays $17/year for LA Fitness renewals. Turns out he originally had a lifetime membership to Vic Tanny during the 60's which was bought by Bally's and the by LA fitness.
I don't know if he belong to one of Vic's gilded gym's. This club was completely finished in gold plating, down to the barbells and dumbbells.

Working from home my landlord used to provide WIFI (came with my place). But their service (spectrum) was awful. Once I switched to Fios, I haven't had an issue since.

The brownouts and the lack of response during thunderstorms made me switch to Fios and never look back. Now only paying $40 and change versus 90 for home internet with any bundles.

Same here. Moved and switched a few months ago. No disappointments so far and the Customer Service is far superior. I had an issue that required a visit to my house and the technician was there the next day at the appointed time. Optimum always has long wait times before you could talk with someone to schedule an appointment and then it could be days or a week or more before they would show up. Also, late day appointments with Optimum were always a crap shoot as to whether they would actually show up or need to reschedule. Very happy I switched.

Before you switch to T-Mobile Internet, make sure you're near a cell Tower ( coverage area maps) or if you have T-Mobile cell service, that the signal is strong.
I tried it and it was a weak signal hence I had slow service. Also, overlap service before committing. Just my 2 cents.

I forgot to add, a free new12 streaming version. It has all boros jersey and long island. The stories rotate for each news 12 area so it kinda sucks but it's free. Roku carries it and Pluto TV (free TV streaming service)

Samsung TV [free with the Samsung], has a bunch of channels including all the News12's [LI, NY, NJ, etc]

Out of all the bills I receive , and I receive many, the one I most despise is Optimum. Over priced, horrible customer service and unfortunately I have no other options where I live.

Hey @trader1 I have Optimum and just checked and the “search feature is no longer available” pops up on my screen too. I have the newer style black remote. This must have been recent because I used that feature about a month or two ago.

Have they gone "voice only" searches? I cut the cord long time ago 2009ish, but everyone I know that still has a "cable" not necessarily Cablevision branded, outside of Long Island... have forced all their customers to use a Roku/Prime Amazon Video like remote with few buttons and mostly voice activated "remote control"

I have been Fios all the way for 15 years. Optimum is a NO GO for me. If FIOS is a possibility in your area, consider it.
