The real "unofficial" reason

I really enjoyed Mohegan Sun when they had their poker room. It was really stupid for them to give it up. They did so right before poker became really popular. Foxwoods poker room is ok. I can't wait to check out the new one at the Borgata.
I used to go to Mohegan frequently. Now I go to Taj Mahal in AC.

The official reason that they closed (at least as it was stated in the letter they sent out) was that there wasn't enough action to support 2 poker rooms in Connecticut.

The unofficial reason was they were only making $2 Million there per month. By putting 125 slot machines into that space, they upped their take to $10 Million per month.

Any casino will make more money from slots vs poker room, that's a known fact. Casinos open and enlarge poker rooms for the draw, get the people into the casino...these days where there's no poker room there are fewer players in the casino period. Besides, poker players tend to have deeper pockets than slot players.

IMHO Mohegan has made a tactical error and will continue to attract a lower end clientele.

Haven't played at Taj....not a fan of that place. Kind of seedy and dirty and in major need of renovation.......yeah Trump. Just got back from AC and played at Borgata, and Trop. My first time playing at Trop....not a bad room, but still an antiquated wait list system. Lots of regulars at Borgata....doesn't anyone work anymore?

In 1998 I used to frequent the Sands in Atlantic City often because there was a dollar machine that I hit some smaller and larger jackpots on. My current favorite is probably the Ballys in Atlantic City because I've won quite a few times playing the Wheel of Fortune slots.
