No. The privacy laws (like HIPAA) are so stringent that I had to sign permission for one doctor to send information about me to another doctor, a specialist. One of the exceptions is HIV, for contact tracking.

For the sake of sharing important information, I'm going to share my two cents regarding STD testing here, based on my own experiences.

I am going to start off by explaining some things about HIV testing. There is anonymous testing, which is really important if you do not currently have health insurance. If you test positive for HIV, and if it is reported (non-anonymous testing), it will harder to get insurance once you have been reported as being HIV positive. If you find out that you are HIV positive in an anonymous way, it will be easier to get insurance, and then re-test for HIV non-anonymously. I hope that explanation makes sense. Bottom line: Anonymous HIV testing is a better route, if you do not currently have a health insurance plan. Free and anonymous HIV testing is available everywhere.

Other STD tests should occur in the usual manner; go to a doctor/clinic and use insurance/money to pay for it. For uninsured people or people with limited income, there are sliding scale health care clinics in NYC. I also recommend Planned Parenthood for all STD testing, except HIV testing (which is not free/anonymous with them.) You can get tested for "everything" in one visit at Planned Parenthood. One other STD testing issue I run into is in regard to Herpes 2 testing. Herpes 2 can be tested, if you currently have a visible sore/blister that you suspect is from Herpes 2. That test is conducted by swabbing the open blister/sore and testing it for the Herpes 2 virus. If you do not have sores/blisters, you can still have Herpes 2 and transmit it to your partners. In non-symptomatic bodies, Herpes 2 can be detected with a Herpes blood test only. This test is offered in limited clinics, so you have to ask around. I know for sure that Planned Parenthood NYC offers the "blister test," not the "blood test."

I know more about testing with your "b" and "c" options, since I never use insurance to get my STD tests done.

What about HPV? Human Papilloma Virus? If your SO comes up with an abnormal Pap smear and it turns out to be viral it will be a HUGE question of how she got it. Even though she could possibly have had the virus for years and it just manifested as abnormal cells on the Pap smear, most of the time, it is because there was a recent infection of 6 weeks to six months. If you are a fan of giving providers oral sex, you could pass it to your SO. The appearance of abnormal cells on a Pap smear raises HUGE questions for the SO about your activity. Anyone have more information on this, personal or otherwise?

There is one vaccine for one of the more common forms of HPV, but you have to be relatively young to receive it... If you are in your mid 20s or younger, you can get the HPV vaccine.

HPV is very easily transmitted, including from touching. Not all HPV is sexually transmitted, either. So, if you have HPV, that does not "prove" that you got it from sex.

My opinion about HPV is that it's best to "play safe." For some, that means abstinence. For others, that means using latex barriers as often as possible.

I personally get screened for HPV often. I've never got it, but it's something everyone should keep their eye out for, especially women because HPV can cause cervical cancer.

TA Kim, thanks for your response, never met you but you seem like a fine person from all the posts you do here. What would you suggest saying to the SO if she comes up with irregular cells on a Pap smear and hasn't been with anyone else herself?

There is also a free clinic in Harlem on 137th and Fifth Ave. Open M-Sat. The results are a matter of public record, which is great if you are free and clear and don't mind the availability of your information. If your prelim HIV test is negative, there's no need for further testing and they'll give you a receipt (proof) if you ask for it. STD results I believe take a week.

I'm always curious about what providers need, especially since there isn't an AIM available in New York.

I second the recommendation for chelsea, on 29th & 9th ave. If you get there earlier in the morning, before 11am, you have a decent shot of finishing up within 2 hrs.

I went to planned parenthood for testing once and aside from doing HIV testing it's a it of a pain in the ass to get tests for run of the mill stds. Seems like a Men's rights issue.

Whats up guys? Yes, I am new to UG and after you hear my story, you might laugh at the fact that I am even here...but I wanted to let you guys know what happened to me last year at a KMP.

So, I go to this place over in Bayside..Korean table shower joint. The chick there is quite healthy for a Korean, but I didnt mind since i like meaty chicks. Was actually impressed. Long story short...I got sooo sick...lost 20 lbs...as did my gf....i thought HIV...even though I knew I hadnt even done anything really...I was shitting bricks...hence the name. My gf asked me wtf was happening to her...and I told her (kinda) what happened...she didnt kill me but was pissed in a major way. Well, after months and months of neurological testing, blood tests, mri, you name it...THEY STILL have no idea what was and still ails me...though i feel much better now...but it has taken over a year and I am still dealing with stuff. So, I think, i caught a wicked virus by sucking that chicks tits...i suspect that perhaps someone jizzed on them before I got there or something and she didnt wash up...then here I come to suck them....Trust me, I am still feeling some effects and dont know where its going to lead...but guys, i hate to spoil your fun., but be careful sucking anything, even a tit unless you see her clean it first!!!!! I don't have an answer for your problem, but I can tell you any time I've busted a nut on any part of an AMP girl, they ALWAYS clean it up. Especially on their tits. Usually alcohol. Is it possible that after you had your fingers in her box, that you somehow got that fish sauce into your mouth? Did you have cuts on your fingers or in your mouth?

This is clearly not an STD....And your symptoms don't even resemble a virus. I am not a licensed medical physician but I have a feeling that your issue was caused by infection possibly from contaminated food. There are a number of different pathogens in tropical seafood which can cause neurological issues along the lines of what you described. Hopefully this can point you in the proper direction about what may be the cause.

Contact Nassua County Department of health They offer free STD test for all types of STDs and its free, or you can pay upwards of 300 to varuous testing companies on LI or best if you have insurance go see you doctor
