Spent an interesting lunch hour watching a sting operation.
Where: Straight Path, Wyandanch, opposite the school, next to the church.
decoy: about 5ft7. Ponytail, jeans, jacket, dark sun glasses, squeeky clean white sneakers, olive skin (maybe spanish or italian).
Not very attactive facial features.
Chase car: two guys, 1 white hair, overweight and younger guy.
Car was non-descript gray ford escort. They were parked down side street about 200 yards from the decoy. She walked back and forth always in clear sight of them even when talking to a mark.
The arrest: I drove up the side street and had to stop by her to make my turn onto straight path. I looked at her. She looked back at me, no smile, totally nondescript. I did not make any overt motions or speak to her. She did not walk toward my car even though I was there longer than neccessary to make the turn. I turned, went two blocks down and parked on opposite side of street. I guy in a car pulled by her and stopped, opened his window and turned his head facing her. She walked over to the passenger side, no smile. He said something to her, she walked to within a foot of the passenger side window and talked to him.
A few seconds later she turned on her heel and started walking away. I was obvious she got what she wanted and was talking into a wire for the chase guys. The chase guys waited for him to start moving and then they started. The arrest was made 2 blocks away right in front of me. They put the cuffs on him, drove his car to away to a side street and waited for a patrol car which showed up in about 1 minute. The guys went back to their spot for next customer.
Conclusions:
1. He is cooked - she in no way was dressed provocatively( unless you like the dyke look), no smile, no overt gestures, no voice contact first - just stand'in on the corner watch'n all the boys go by.
2. She did not fit in with the area.
3. She didnt get in the car.
4. two cops in patrol car, a decoy, two cops in inmarked car, maybe they could do 2 arrests per hour - (would get more if the used an attractive decoy) - your tax dollars at work for a misdemeanor.
