These are not teenagers working a job to get some extra spend money - these are adult women living in Queens. None of them are married (the ones I ask anyway -husband back in China) and I assume they aren't living over a grate by Penn Station in the winter, they pay for their own clothes, food, medical needs etc. Also when I go there it is not uncommon for them to be either sitting around waiting for a customer or doing chores for the place. The time they spend escorting me to the room, waiting for me to get undressed, then after the massage and when done standing at the counter waiting for me to pay and offering me water and and cleaning up the room after does not come out of my time during the massage - it comes out of their time. The sign on the wall says "minimum tip $10" so I assume they don't get a lot of big tippers there. Also, when the are sick and don't come to work, I suspect the place doesn't offer paid sick days.
Yeah, they probably don't pay income taxes but at that income level I doubt that burden would be all that much anyway.

As I posted "just barely" and if anything goes wrong, e.g, toothache, medical treatment, broken phone, I would think they would have to allocate remaining funds to pay the utility that is most likely to be turned off.
Given what I observed is based on sampling every time I've been there (minimum 1X/week)about 50% the time none of the women are performing massages as they are sitting on the couches talking to each other or on their phones or cleaning up doing sweeping or laundry, 40% 1 (out of 3) is performing massages and 10% more than 1 out of 3 are performing massages. Correct - I advise them as to what I am willing to pay and for what I expect. I understand fully if they are not willing to accept what I offer and apologize as I head for the door. I rarely make it out the door .

Chinese guy who ran it had his VISA end and had to go back to China. I was there talking to him on his last day and he said that was going to be the end of the place as was the one who ran it. Too bad - very clean with young Latinas - probably as good as a fast joint gets. I don't know of any others in the area.

i had called there after not going for 5-6 months and he kinda gave me the new customer routine,call from this corner etc..

Not a bad life you say - working only six days a week and sharing an apartment in scenic downtown Flushing with 1 or 2 other people. Sounds like they are living in the lap of luxury. I assume they subtract from the 2 weeks off any days where they may be sick and not able to work. and hey - since they work 6 days a week that means they actually get 12 days off a year.
ps: the ones that work in the places that I go to at least get a couple of days worth of vitamin C - I always bring a bunch of various fruits for all the women to share. But hey - I'm just a bleeding heart..
