Wine Bars & Coops In the San Francisco/Napa Area

#2
Would love to... just wasn't sure if there was interest since I am on the west coast and most of you all are east coasters. Here are my two top favorites right now:

The Press Club in San Francisco, here is a link:
http://pressclubsf.com/wineries/press_club_partner_wineries

This is Napa valley comes to downtown San Francisco. A lovely way to bring Napa to the tourists of the city who do not have the time or means to travel up to Napa. My favorite two vintners here are Chateau Montelena and Pahlmeyer. Chateau Montelena is a drinking wine and their estate Cab cannot be beat!!! Pahlmeyer is more of a pairing wine for fine foods that are rich in fats and flavor, it has a very strong back bone, I did not care for it as a plain drinking wine but loved it with a nice rib eye.

My second favorite wine cooperative which I only recently discovered is:http://www.maisonry.com/

Not only does Maisonry have wonderful wines but the outdoor fire pit and the charm and hospitality of the owner is quite the experience. Although the owner of Maisonry favors the Blackbird vineyard I personally fell in love with the Brown Estate Zinfandel. This is not your average zin that is way too fruit forward like some of the vineyards are making it now. It has a lot of rich spicy flavor and a fabulous flower pop.

If you would like to know more I have just returned from a week in Napa and toured and tasted many wines, I also came home with a few secrets!!!

Kisses,

Juls

Yikes......

Sorry for the delayed response....been beautiful weather and lots of fun out here. Two of the new wines I discovered in Napa were:

Stewart - This is a project of Paul Hobbs who makes very nice wines
http://www.stewartcellars.com/

The other is:

Drinkward Peschon - This has more of a soft spot in my heart as it is known as "Entre Deux Meres" (Between Two Mothers). Check them out at:

Hope you love these, ill try to write more soon.

Good call. I was just reading about Entre Deux Meres a few days ago and, given who's involved, am dying to try it. I can't find it anywhere in New York -- but in this New Age of Ordering Wine On The Internet (which is turning into my downfall), that won't be a problem.

Here is one of my favorite Pinots

Back in October I took a road trip with a client up to Mendocino. On the way we stopped and sampled many of the wines of this valley. One of my favorite places was:

Navarro Vineyard - http://www.navarrowine.com/main.php
By far one of my favorite Pinots now.

Another place we stopped was

Roderer Estate - http://www.roedererestate.com/
They have some really lovely champagnes and the staff doing the tastings is informative and delightful. I actually really liked the L'ermitage Rose it was delicious.

Will try to write again soon. Would love to hear about some of your favorites too!
