Why traveling providers attract attention

I was thinking about all of these traveling providers who come through New York. You would think that, with all the locally-based talent available, that there wouldn’t be much room in the market for girls coming in from out of town. But then it dawned on me that there’s a very good reason why there’s such a strong demand for visiting providers.

Anyone who’s taken Economics 101 can tell you that scarcity of a product or service in demand will bid up the price. Now, you could hardly make the observation that there is a scarcity of providers in the New York hobbying market. Unless, of course, you create the perception of scarcity.

And that’s exactly what the traveling provider pitches. She’s “one of a kind,” “only here for a few days,” so you have to catch her while you can. If she were here for, say, several months, the allure would wear off and she’d have to compete with everyone else in the market. But the fact that she’s here for a scarce amount of time allows her to claim a niche that local providers can’t. And, often, the prices for these providers are higher than for local talent -- but we pay because, after all, we won't forgive ourselves if we were to miss out on such a unique opportunity.

Could also be that the calls aren't coming in in the 'home' market.

Plus I imagine that the visitor usually assumes the NYC guys are loaded with money, ergo the higher price (although expenses enter into it too, somewhat).

If you look at some of the ads, many of these providers are constantly "visiting" NYC.

I did phones in an establishment that only had eventually only had traveling providers. The reason they come to NYC to work is the same reason people from third world countries come here to work then go back home, they make more money here than they would were they come from. They also bring a different kind of vibe with them and they use it to thier advantage. A woman who lives in Atlanta, Miami, LA for example is just going to be slightly different from a local girl so it a variety beyond looks. It is also harder to sustain consistent buisness in other cities depending on the LE there than a oversaturated busy market like NYC.

I see a lot of travelers because despite the large number of escorts available here I don't think a there that many girls of the quality and type I like who are based here and I like variety.So,in a sense,it may not be just a perception of scarcity but the reality of scarcity of better looking escorts that drives the trend.
There are probably more guys willing to pay $500-$1000/hr here than any other place in the country.Some of the travelers are on a never ending tour with little or no time at their home base.They may be girls who actually do some legit modeling,stripping or whatever and have wanderlust or they may have started in one locale,become the star of that city based on Web reviews and then taken it on the road.There have been a lot of British girls recently coming to NYC asking $800-$1200/hr.I have little experience with them but at least some of the ads are very candid about what services they provide.Local agencies with girls in that price range are a bit reluctant to be specific about that to a first time customer.
Higher priced indie locals and agencies often don't provide incall which the travelers readily do.
Besides the pond jumping glamour girl jet-setters and the small town stars taking it to Broadway there is another group who simply live somewhere else and don't work there and make a regular trek to NYC which is essentially there home work base.
I've been referring mostly to a higher price point where I think there really isn't too much supply.In the lower range you're right that the girl probably has to work the scarcity angle to be successful.I've been seduced(or suckered).I've put off making appointments even with girls who were on my short list until they put up the "going out of business" sign.

I advertised in CL London for outcall bodyrub a few years back when I had a trip already planned and had so many responses because I guess I was different and new to them. I was booked up in two days two weeks prior with standby appointments in case someone canceled. Regretfully I could not get away from obligations as easily as a thought and had to cancel all of them but I could have paid for my trip and then some. New ladies from distant lands are always going to be exciting especially if it just for a limited engagements.

i know that they all travel to vegas because the can charge almost anything they want and get the tourists to pay it. it's amazing how expensive it is out here. way worse than NYC. i can't wait till my lease is up here and i can move back.

Thanks [*blushing*]. Ah, Sofia ... will she ever come back to New York? I never did see Milady -- something came up. She *****ed me the next time she was in New York, but I was out of town on business. She may think I blew her off, because I never heard back from her. And, frankly, at $1K/hour, her rate is way above my normal hobbying budget. I admit, though, every now and again I fantasize about seeing her...

I was going to add a paragraph to my original post about how many traveling providers don't really lead that glamorous a life (but it was getting long, so I deleted it). I can't tell you how many visiting girls I've met who rarely leave their hotel room while they're here. It's a combination of fear of the city, fear of missing a call/***** and an appointment, and lack of interest.

As for the question of scarcity, I'm not convinced that there really is a scarcity. I think we allow ourselves to perceive that there's a scarcity. Part of it is, when you see the same old faces around all the time, you long for something different. And part of it is that, "limited time offer," as clichéd a tactic as it is, simply works. We fall for it all the time otherwise, so why not in this context?

I notice this a lot too. Some at least change up the picture/ad enough to make it seem different but when I run the number it is the same one from an ad I have seen before.

The word "traveling" implies limited engagement. Get it while it's hot boys cuz I'm out of here real soon!!! Remember, not every guy cruising the ads is a member of UG or other boards and is less informed and apt to fall for marketing ploys.

As I understand it but could be misinformed, on sites like Eros, the ad cost is reduced for traveling escorts.

Just curious how you feel about "Southern" women visiting NY ? I have met some really wonderful gents in NY and they say they love to hear us talk . I do not feel like I talk like a "hick" but I may have a bit of a southern drawl (lol)

I have spent many years traveling through the south, the accent has always been a turn on for me. If it goes with a beautiful woman with real southern hosptality than I find them irresible. But hey that's just me...

I think it is because the ladies are new and fresh. I mean if you have been in the hobby 10years you may have seen every NY provider that you want to see. But then someone like myself comes along and tours the area, now there is someone new for you to see. Also, like the person before me stated, different personalities. NY is rush rush rush and the gals have a lot more hustle and bustle than an Ohioian Buckeye like myself. A gent may want to experience a different kind of session.

Oh and we travel to NYC because it is a large city. It has people coming and going in large amounts. In a city like mine there may only be 10,000 (10% of our pop) hobbyists in the area with 1000 gals competing for them. But in NYC there may be 500,000 hobbyist with 2 - 3 thousands ladies. So more gents equates more business.

I like traveling providers, because I never have to worry about running into them in public. Besides, they seem to have better attitude to being in New York, versus the local providers.

I think that's a good point. Traveling providers are often excited about visiting the Big Apple. I've had many instances where they ask for tips on places to eat or hot nightspots.

Although, I have occasionally met girls who blow into town expecting to clean up so they book themselves solid and you're left to deal with all the resulting consequences (they're tired, the service is impersonal, no clean towels left in their hotel room, etc.).

Besides, I'm sure the traveling providers like that fact they get more bookings here and are ableto charge a bit more. I do agree with Monk, they are often more excited talking about what they will be doing in NYC and will ask for recommendations on what to do while they are here...
