Which ad site/service is the most above board?

#1
On another PMB recently there was a long discussion and rant about Eros and all the problems providers have had with them. I've heard similar things over the years. No one has anything good to say about Cityvibe. And TBD -- well, enough said.

So, if you were going to rate these services (and others), 10 being the best, most reliable, above board and easiest to work with, and 1 being a complete rip off operation, how do they rate?

(Obviously, UG is a 10. It goes without saying.)

This will be an interesting topic once there are some responses. I have only heard bad things about City Vibe but haven't really asked about any other services. Eros is at least nice looking while City Vibe is just a big jumble to me.

City Vibe, from what I understand, is a franchise. I'm not sure if Eros is. When CityVibe first started in NY, there were a lot of issues with the guy running it and things he did. My understanding is he lost his franchise over it. But I'm not sure they ever recovered from that. My understanding is also that Eros has started to ask for a lot more information from it's advertisers for verification purposes (i.e. for their own legal reasons), but I think hat also inures to the benefit of it's readors.

There are some things with Eros that are not transparent to the users. like, that advertisers can get "lifetime" prefered placement where they always show up 1st thru 5th, or 6th thru 10th in what is otherwise "random" appearance of their ads within a category. Also, there are higher fees for some categories than others, and upcharges for things like being called "GFE", or what have you.

I found Eros ads to be very appealing for some reason. The layout seems "classy" if you will.
Yes, purely from a design and usability standpoint, Eros is by far the superior site. But, as has been mentioned many times before, that doesn't necessary mean that the advertisers themselves are always on the up and up.

Well the advertisers can be dishonest wherever you go. That's just a fact of life. Caveat Emptor always applies when reading ads. But if the site abuses the advertisers, that's quite another thing.

What was the other PMB therad you were referring to?

newbie low volume girl

Hi everyone!
Im new here and the biz in general and just trying to figure it all out. I started about a year ago and posted in craigslist section as just a classy blonde looking for respectable gentlemen only. I weeded out the *****s and 90% of the men who responded acted accordingly. I met a few select men from the site and Im lucky to say the men were great! I have been taken to dinners, done outcalls to their homes, and still see a few of them.
Im just a very low volume, limited apt type of girl as Im very busy in life. Searching for a way to meet some new trustworthy clients and appreciate all the info I am learning on here!!!!

First of all, welcome to UG. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the board and I can't stress this enough, take the time to read the rules. It'll help you avoid some of the newbie mistakes. (The mods have low tolerance for people who don't read the rules and then goes ahead and breaks them). That being said, you'll find UG to be have a wealth of information on all sorts of topics both hobbying related and non-hobbying related. If you're searching for a new way to meet clients, then you've found one of the better boards. There are alot of guys and girls here, some are active posters and some like to lurk, but we're all open to a new face around here. Consider taking out an ad on UG, service@utopiaguide.com We have some great ladies here who can share their experiences with you if you're unsure about an ad. And again, welcome to UG.

I will take your advise and read the rules book thoroughly! I tried posting an ad but I dont think I posted enough on the site to do that. Id Love to communicate with other providers as I feel its such a secret in my life and noone to share things with. Im proud of what I do and LOVE it but peole are so judgemental. I also dont want to get into trouble so I really need to learn more about this screening. Off to search the boards!

One problem I kept running into when pricing print ads for people was that they always compared it to Eros. They liked that Eros was cheaper. Recently though I have heard of Eros doing some things that they didn't agree with such as random charges. I don't know the specifics, but like you mentioned GFE. That is ridiculous.

We also did some price matching off of their rates and I noticed the different pricing for the different categories and realized girls were taking advantage of the "visiting" prices because it was cheaper. Are they really visiting for months on end. Of course not, but as long as they are in that category their monthly fee is cheaper.

I may be understanding it wrong, but I see the same ad up under visiting with the dates changing monthly. I don't see how they're allowed to get away with it while the other girls are paying full rate.

If you think the right to post ads depends on the amount of your posting, you'd REALLY better read the rules and associated stuff.

In NY you see a lot of the TS advertising as "visiting" when they are here 100%. I had been led to belive it's because of placement issues, but you may be right tht in reality it's cheaper.

It depends which city it is. Smaller cities the price is the same for either the base ad or the visiting ad, whereas the large cities it can be cheaper.

I have also looked into escort town for ad placement and directory, but it is too similar to city vibe. It is just cluttered and not user friendly.

This doesn't apply to these boards as much, but I can't seem to persuade anyone from rent boy to try print. They love the pricing of their online ads and get plenty of responses.

No need to be scared, we were all posting virgins at one point, LOL. Just remember the cardinal rule of no free ads or posting of contact info until you become a paid advertiser, then you can post all that as much as you like. Until then, feel free to jump into any threads.

Only providers who are paid advertisers can post:

* Their contact info
* Posts advertising when and where they're available, etc.

Anything else is permitted, as long as you follow the rules. So, if you read a post on some topic you're interested in, you can join the conversation. You just can't advertise your services without paying for an ad on the site first.
