Since I'll be in Phoenix soon I figure I'll do a search to see if there's any casinos in the area since there are lots of native americans in the southwest (and hopefully indian casinos). I fond that Harrah's has a casino 40 minutes outside the city and so I call the poker room to ask what tables they have.
The guy tells me that have 3/6 limit and this limit and that limit. So I say, "I really dont like limit games, too many chasers" (he commented back that you'll find alot of chasers at teh 3/6 table) "Do you have any low blind no limit tables? I'm used to playing in AC with 1/2 blind no limit texas hold em."
He answered, "Oh well you must not be aware that there's a law in Arizona that you cant bet more than $150 on one bet in poker"
He then went on to recommend to go to Casino Arizona in scottsdale (kinda nice a competitor would tell me I would be better off somewhere else) because they have a 3/5 blind table where the bets range from 5-150max and I should find the play closest to what Im used to.
I guess the high stakes players dont go to Arizona to gamble. What a weird law, I guess the state doesnt want you to lose your shirt playing poker. Whats funny is that Casino Arizona has a 75/150 limit table, which if you think about it you could lose your shirt fairly quickly.
