Based on true events! Every scene is a stunning work of art!

Based on true events!

Pre-Greece.

This is my understanding of the history of the story.

Mini-nation's of the land knew they needed to bond and be one. This was slowly developing. Then came the Arabic conquers who had destroyed and taken over every foe that had stood in their path to world domination.

20 thousand Arabic worriers coming for the last unconquered people. These blood-soaked champions of war would have to go up against the Kings personal army of 300 Spartans. The many mini-nations all agreed they could not fight on religious holidays. It was the law and it was sacrilegious. Exempt from this was the Kings personal guard, the 300 spartans.

It was left to the 300 Spartans to defend the land against the 20 thousand Arab warriors. The Spartans won battle after battle, day after day.

Then...

go she the movie!

How could you not!

Every scene is a stunning work of art!

It's based on the battle of Thermopylae, where King Leonidas of Sparta with 300 Spartans held off hundreds of thousands under the Persian King Xerxes at a choke point along the coast.

I don't mean to be rude, but:

It's based on a COMIC BOOK. OK, a work of graphical fiction. It's based on the battle of Thermopylae like Stalag-17 was based on WW II.

Ancient Greece was made up of City-States. The strongest of these were Athens and Sparta. The City-States came together to fight against the invading Persian army, not Arab.
The Spartans were not alone, there were about 700 Thespian warriors, guarding the rear. After many failed attempts, the Persians found a local guide. The guide showed the Persians a backdoor around the pass. They destroyed the thespian rear guard, and attacked the Spartans from behind.

Movie will be a flop. No one wants to see a good movie ruined by Sin City type art scenes. Good rental or pay-per-view... but a flop in the theaters.

It's also based on fiction no matter how you look at it. Most of what we've gathered from Ancient Greece is no more accurate than the bible.... which ever you choose to read or believe in.
