I have been on AM as a paying member with no success. I've heard promising things from a friend about match.com so maybe I will try there next. But here's my question, for the BP girls that want you CC number for "verification" (obviously a pro), has anyone done this and is it legit or a scam to get your CC?

Yes, perfectly legitimate. Just be sure to also give them your mom's maiden name as well -- it makes the "verification" go that much more smoothly.
