Driver for providers

#1
A friend of mine drove for a service for awhile, but he got busted along with the owners and some other drivers when LE took down the agency. He only got probation, but still went through a hassle. He was telling me what the experience was like and it - the driving part, not the arrest - sounds interesting.

Has anyone here done this? Or do you know anyone who has? If so, care to share your experience. I told my friend that I might be interested in driving and asked him to pass my name around to some guys he still knows in the business.

From what I've read online, it can be a pretty risky business. So much so that carrying a weapon seems to be absolutely necessary. I would also assume that it doesn't pay so well as most agencies would leave you responsible for your operating expenses.

I'm not sure what your friend has experienced but this seems to be pretty universal throughout at least the US.

Definitely would not want to carry a weapon. Too much can go wrong, either accidentally wounding someone including your own self or getting jammed up by LE.

You work for tips from the girls. But you have to hope that it's a busy night. He told me that there were nights he just sat around with the girl waiting for calls and got nothing. Other nights were busy and he made hundreds of dollars. Once, he said, the provider got the client to write him a check for a $350 tip. He was surprised when the check didn't bounce. So I guess it's hit and miss.

But your overall sentiment was probably right that it's not a very good idea. Maybe someone who actually did this will chime in here with more info.

I agree that it is a risky business - local thugs sometimes call in for takeout food to rob the takeout driver of the pittance(compared to what the escort has made that night anyway) he may have, so I would assume the same goes on for escorts.
As far as your solution Kung_fu, given quotes below it just seems to violate genius's 1st law of mongering: Only commit one crime at a time.

Of course you could get a license for a weapon. Just what would you put in the box for need for the reason?

Bodyguard. CT is easy to get a carry permit, NY is tough (NYC even harder), don't know about NJ, PA is easy (this is all for residents)

When I referred to carrying a weapon I meant to imply to protect yourself. While these problems with LE still do not go away you've got to remember that at the end of the day (just like any other job) you want to go home with all of your body parts intact. I wasn't suggesting using it to intimidate clients, but rather to protect yourself in case someone was trying to rob you as the girl's money will likely be in your car.

Also don't forget that many of these girls use drugs whether it be an open alcohol container or a bundle of heroin even if they're in her bag she can always tell law enforcement that the bag isn't hers or worse, stuff it under the seat so that there's no questioning who it belongs to.

But I'm super paranoid so that could just be me.

As I recall CT had (used to have?) a bunch of gun manufacturers so I'm not surprised at it being easy to get a permit.
I live in Nassau county, NY. To get a license you have to jump thru hoops and pay all kinds of fees.

I understood your caution and reason for carrying a weapon. I'm in NY, so that would make it more difficult to get a carry permit, even if I wanted one. Which I definitely don't. And the drug angle is definitely a concern, although that could be easily rectified by making the provider show me her bag contents. Then again, some of these clients want girls who are 420 friendly, so the provider could argue that she needs to bring it. Looks like there are too many inherent risks in this occupation for me to consider it. But first I should ask my friend how he dealt with these situations. I'll let you know what he says. Thanks to all who posted.

I have seen various news articles saying the LE saw some car run a red light or stop sign or doing 50 in a 30 and turns out that the guy just robbed a 7-11 or perhaps had outstanding warrants and he gets caught simply because he is stopped and the LE investigates the situation further. Once I read that the guy had a bag of cash from the robbery in the front seat. When a SW gets in m car with a beverage I ask what it is. If it is alcoholic I ask her to either leave it on the side of the road or get out of the car. I ask her if she has any drugs or drug paraphernalia, e.g., crack pipe, on her- if so I ask her to get out of the car.
In my thinking, it is absolutely stupid to have any thing illegal in your car or possession or commit another crime, no matter how minor., e.g., blow thru a stop sign or have a burned out break light, when you are doing something illegal. This is genius's 1st law of mongering: "do only one crime at a time"

If you are going to do something illegal such as be a driver for an escort, you had better make sure all your other ducks are in order. If you don't you are just stupid, IMHO.

Not worth it in my opinion ..... If the arresting officers are in a bad mood they can write you to the full extent of the law. Promoting prostitution and since your using your car they can probably confiscate it as well. The legal bills and fall out from it can cost tens of thousands of dollars and maybe your real job.

Yes, that's why when I used to troll the stroll in the city, I would do it on foot. And then walk to the hotel. No car involved, so no forfeiture of vehicle potential. Nowadays, that's almost as risky, because of all the cameras in NYC. Probably helped to drive the streetwalker traffic to BP and CL.

Once I watched an LE sting go down for over an hour in the East Village back in the late 90's. Decoy street walker, plainclothes cops sitting on stoops and talking on walkies hidden in paper bags. Uniform cops in cars at end of street and tow truck lying in wait. As soon as a John solicited the decoy, all hell would break loose. UC cops came flying off the stoops, radio cars were racing down the block, yank driver out of the car, and then the tow truck would back up and hook up the John's car. They got many a nice set of wheels that night including some expensive imports. Heard that the DA would file to keep cars and sell them at auction to use money for other operations. And, of course, there is the expense and embarrassment of the arrest itself. But losing one's car certainly had to be doubly painful. Makes what DA Rice in Nassau County did look tame by comparison.

just to add 2 cents. I knew someone who ran this business on the side with a partner. I was offered to drive in the weekend and told the fee which was good if the girl was busy the only safe part was they had regular clients and rarely went to someone new unless referred by a regular. I never did it cause the hours were not good for me.
