I used to love "London Lenny's". Best deep fried Deep Sea Scallops I ever had. But they went down hill after they expanded and "modernized". Still not a bad place, though ( connection: they're on Woodhaven, too ). Also not too far away is the Queens branch of Goodies ( I believe the first place in NYC to serve "Soup Dumplings" ).

London Lennies,in the 70's,was one of the best seafood bargains in NYC. Never made it to Goodies but it's predecessor on Queens Blvd in Rego Park was excellent. In it;s heyday,Pastrami King in Kew Gardens had best pastrami in NYC.
Of course, the Greek Tavernas in Astoria are also great (as was the only authentic PIT BBQ in NYC;located in LIC-name escapes me).

See Allen...........

That open pit Bar-b-que still exists. I met Allen there for our "kick off meeting" for UG. They have relocated to a bar in Jackson Heights. Pearson's Texas Barbecue, 71-04 35th Ave.

You know what would be great would be a Texas steakhouse. I went to this one outside of Dallas that was in a big barn-like building, had a kickass country band (loud!), sawdust on the floor, hot waitresses, and HUGE grilled steaks. And no cheap meat either. Yum!

Anyway...

ALLEN!

Where the heck are the uploaded pictures?

i still live in forest hills. pastrami king? i thought it was closed down. bens is better now. also there was a burger joint on the corner of austin and continental that had a bbq pit right in the front window, but the NYFD made them get rid of it......a year later they were out of biz. london lennys.....anyone see in the movie private parts that they changed the direction of woohaven blvd when they shot those scenes in front of the old drake theater and lennys.........i was there, you just gotta look a bit. SB, i'll give you a prise if you can spot me.

and actually woodhaven blvd is more like a 3-5 minute ride from WC.......unless your getting a bj then it's more like an 30 min.

just to bring this somewhat on topic,Pastrami King moved to NYC(Lex and 86th)and was reputedly responsible for causing the bust of PIT. The Pastrami in NYC ain't what it was in the Queens heyday.ps-the diner on the corner of where PK was,had remarkable seafood in the late 70's(fuck late 70's!!-enough nostalgia)and there was a strip bar across the street called Pirates Pub.

lived in FH,when I returned to NY,a lifetime ago. lived in a flat on Ascan Ave,where the roaches were as big as mice and son of sam was doing his schtick around the corner at the LIRR station.
