6th floor club on south side of 29th-ish off 7th av....

there used to be a pretty amazing "underground club" in a free-standing townhouse-like structure on the 6th floor @ 29th bet 7th & 6th. initially charged $100 for entry & could stay til closing, then due to popularity, went to ~$125 for 2 hrs max. inside, a # of women walking around in bra & panties, the guys changed into a towel & wandered around. advertised as a swingers club that allowed single men, & every once in-a-while there were couples who enjoyed this scene, but it was mostly single women & single men hooking up randomly. interestingly, none of the "girls" would admit to being pros, which was cool; however, it was pretty obvious this was more than casual, as per the supposed scene at La Trapeze, which also has its share of pros posing as "girlfriends"/wives, etc.... anyway, curious if others from here went & what happened to this place???? don't know if changed location, or just closed permanently?????

further description for those who may have gone to this place: guy @ the elevator exit into area(mike??) with a clipboard to collect & direct back to where there was an open changing area, female manager running around with condoms, & 2 more "managers/operators" in a closed closet-like area. there was 1 "girl" who was always there & would service multiple men in the open "play-pen area, think her name was Patty(??), her story was she was a suppressed/repressed good little catholic schoolgirl from new orleans, who was breaking out. goal was to appear in porno films. don't know if she ever succeeded in that biz, but she was 1 helluva performer!!! many others also appeared to be regulars, but not at "patty's" intensity!! anyone remember this place???????

addendum!!

amazingly, was walking west on w28th & recognized the place i refer to in the above post!!!! 146 w28th bet 6th/7th, closer to 7th. pretty weird!!! bldg looks the same, have no idea "IF" this operation still in existance, which as i mentioned was only open monday nites from 6-12. would be kind of hard to take the elevator up to the 5th, or was it the 6th fl, & ask the occupants if singles can come in :) the neighborhood very much the same, but looks can be deceiving with so many older office bldgs now are co-ops/condos!!! but, who knows.

pretty clear by the lack of responses, no one from here ever visted this place - too bad, it was a lot of fun while it lasted!!!!

29th street

Yes ... remember it well. You're right about none of the women admitting they were pros. Always thought management had just a few there to keep things going. The several times I went, I do remember more than a few couples getting it on, and happy to let others watch and even join in sometimes. Particularly remember one lady, who was there with one guy, who had sex with at least half dozen men in the time I there. She seemed too happy to just be a well paid pro. I also remember a particularly friendly guy meeting me at the door ... wish there were other places like that around!

The place you describe sounds like Acquiesce. It has been discussed on this board a number of times but has been closed for a number of years. They were in over a half dozen places over their existence. I do remember going several times when they were in the area you describe and having to take an elevator up to the floor where the activity took place. The best part of Acquiesce was that it was LE proof since you weren't paying for the sex but rather paying for admission to the party.

I have managed to get on an ***** list for a Swinger's Party that seems to operate like Acquiesce but have yet had the occasion to go.

If it was LE proof then why are they not open?

Acquiesce opened in the mid-seventies in the Times square area. Actually at the time there were perhaps 3 or 4 places like it at the time. One was in a former small night club. It had several small private rooms but also had a bed up on the stage at the opposite end of the room from the entrance where guys that didn't mind being watched could get it on. On several occasions I took advantage of that option.

Acquiesce moved around over the years (they always advertised in the VV.) They were on the UES (80's perhaps, place was on two levels - first and basement with a spiral staircase), on 2nd or 3rd ave in lower 20's, on the aforementioned west side in upper 20's and the last location was 14th st. I didn't go there a lot. Sometimes once a month for 2 or 3 months then I didn't go back for a year or 2. I have always had a ready source of physical pleasure and Acquiesce was a change of pace and fill in the gap for me.

After, 20 to 25 years, the couple that ran it had had enough and closed down.

The cost of Real Estate in New York! The last place was on 14th - and they didn't get that much biz after the move there. I remember the place on the upper east and the west side in the 20's. Over the years it seemed that they got less and less of the non-pro action and had to rely on the hired help.

THIS place was neither "Acquiesce", nor "Intimate Encounters"! a no-name place, spread by word-of-mouth ONLY. obviously, very few here have been, but thanks for the responses.
