Science fiction I have no problem with. That is fantasy. Law and order or medicine demand respect for the truth. A little poetic license is okay. Fashion consulatants and computer hackers are a stretch. I stopped watching Criminal Minds, because I couldn't take seeing the hacking done by that BBW whose name escapes me. But you're right about guns being fired by police. Especially when there is a big shootout on the street. When have you ever read about that happening for real?

I got hooked on the first ep of This Is Us. But after watching the second ep, I came to the conclusion that this might be a very depressing show week after week. The premise and acting are certainly first rate. But I am starting to grow bored with the one dimensional obsession of the BBW about her weight. You never hear her talk about her job (does she even have one), her adopted AA brother, or anything else besides the fact that she is morbidly obese. And her BF has been similarly silent on anything about himself. Other questions include what exact jobs do the other players have. The father and the AA brother both look to have executive jobs. What else has the brother acted in besides The Manny. Maybe some of these questions will be answered if I watch further past the two episodes I've seen. But I don't know if I have the desire.
