Which Sports do most Americans play if they want to go Pro?

Not if they want to get paid playing a professional sport.
Jim Brown was the greatest lacrosse player of all time but he is in the NFL HOF.
You don't see guys Boomer Esiason, Craig Biggio or Marcus Stroman gravitating to lacrosse. Pro lacrosse leagues come and go and they've never paid their players millions of dollars.

I agree, better athletes play lacrosse and or hockey. I would say that is the majority of east coast of US for lacrosse,at this point. For lacrosse its more about scholarships and good colleges. Its a smarter move then riding a bus in AA baseball for 8 years making shit money. Probably more more D1 lacrosse millionaires then most realize, cause you need to look at the schools that are top 25 in D1 lacrosse.. a lot of Ivy and top tier education schools.

what shocked me about that show is they really missed the point when discussing women’s soccer. Why are the women so good, the only point they made for women is that they don’t really have 4 other major sports to compete with. If they want to go pro and make money it really is soccer or basketball. But they failed to mention many of the countries in this years men’s World Cup don’t allow women to play sports. Not sure about other countries, even the ones that aren’t hostile towards women, does France, Portugal, Argentina just to name a few encourage females to play sports at young ages like the US does?

Faison Brithers at Notre Dame, younger brother was the #1 lacrosse recruit in the country last year. Tyler Buchner started his career at Notre Dame as a QB than went to Bama than came back to ND to play lacrosse. Won a natty too, Matt Jeffery played on both lacrosse and football at ND as well. So it happens more often than you think.
but to answer your original question, the answer is basketball. There’s multiple leagues around the world that you can make 7 figures playing in I’ll say 10-12 including the NBA. Now adays with NIL kids are getting stupid money if they are a top player in basketball, football, baseball (less so but still a pretty penny) right out of HS/ during college.
There’s multiple kids from the Island making $100k+ playing those college sports. I can prolly name 10 off the top of my head And the best couple of them signed deals over a million. Right now is the absolute best time to be a high level athlete in history .

There is a little known wall street league, its all the big brokerage firms have team. I used to play on Merrill Lynch. The teams are full of Ivy guys and other top educational colleges.

The point of the thread I started?
This thread started because I was trying to make a point that the United States can't really compete in World wide elite soccer competition like the World Cup because our best athletes, the real elite ones, don't play soccer as opposed to most of the rest of the world where soccer is the only and/ or the most popular sport.
Somehow it got side tracked because @lightweight hijacked the thread with the claim that in the US most of the elite athlete play lacrosse, which I disagree with.
That said, I do see your point that top High School athletes do choose Lacrosse as a way to get into a top Ivory League schools where they can then parley that elite education into a high paying white collar career like Law, Politics and Wall Street.
Maybe a handful of these lacrosse players in the Wall Street are truly world class athletes that if they had spent their time developing soccer skills instead of lacrosse they could have completed on an elite world level of soccer.
But my contention is that the subset of elite athletes in this country who are planning on making a living playing a sport are going to concentrate on the big three.
