Thought I'd bring this back to recommend two excellent scotches I've been enjoying recently. One from the LI Distillery in Baiting Hollow called Pine Barrens, a single malt. Very smooth, nicely balanced, clean finish. Pricey though, at $80 for a 750ml. Don't know what retailers might carry it (for some reason I'm thinking I saw it at Stew Leonard's in Farmingdale, but I'm not sure). I'm close enough to take a half hour drive to the source when I want it, which isn't that often. Not since I found #2, Monkey Shoulder. An imported blend for half the price, which I think is at least as good, if not better. I generally prefer blends anyway though. Like they say: Distilling is a science, but blending is an art.

My 1st thought was "that's kinda steep for a bottle for me."
Then I thought (smacking myself in the forehead), WTF is wrong with me — I spend more than that for half hour with an escort but won't spend $80 for something that I can enjoy every evening for over a week.
I will check out as I shop nearby (although I don't buy booze anymore at Stews as Bottles & Values (Old Bethpage) has most stuff Stews has but 10-20% lower (more money for whoring) and on top of that during every major or minor holiday emails very good coupons, e.g.. $20 coupon on next purchase is you spend $100.

I always find it interesting that stuff brewed on LI is more expensive than stuff imported from Ireland, Scotland, etc. seems like BS to me. Same as why am I paying more for a bottle of Pindar than I am for a bottle of Mondavi.
In any case sounds like a nice find and if Stew carries it I may indulge when I am done with my Jameson a friend brought back for me from the distillery. Only sold there and goddam!!!!!

Yes, $80 a 750 is a little rich for my blood too. It does work well, though, for that relative who calls you up asking "What do you want for your birthday?" Boom. There you go. "That's all I want". (Granted, they may not ask again next year, but at least for this year you know you'll get something you can actually use). Or treat yourself to a weekend out east. Take a nice ride, enjoy the music in the courtyard, tour the distillery, buy a flight (they also make a great vodka. Potato, like vodka should be, grown right out back). But i'd strongly recommend the Monkey Shoulder. I bought some today. $30 for 750. About what you'd spend for Johnnie Black, and much better. We have a place out here next to Costco. Not affiliated, but the same concept: They don't carry everything, but everything they carry is good quality, and the price is always the best around. Salut!! "When we drink, we get drunk. It's Molly dooker which is Australian slang for left handed ( southpaw ) the wines are overly fruit forward and jammy. High alcohol fruit bombs. In the wine world circle they are referred to as cough syrup wines. That being Saudi have a small collection of Sarah and sparky marquis wines. My poison is red wine all kinds and ages

More expensive to ship wine from Cali to my than from Chile to by or France to ny cargo ships much cheaper than us trucking
Long island wines are very small production in terms of cases made annually compared to most other wine regions nationally and globally. Land, labor and construction are all super high on long island compared to other wine regions also the region sucks globally and you can't find li wines anywhere further than NY . SO without more volume 9r demand for the plonk they charge s ton for shit wine in order to try to make s profit
Paumonk is the only li wine I enjoy and it's their chenin blanc that is my favorite but it's too expensive for its quality

A couple of grams of some good blow (needs that pure yellowish tint)
Absolute chilled with lime
Chasing them down with some Becks
And a few packs of Parliament...
I would disappear for a few days, but I would eventually show my head again somewhere....
