What's up with my DVD's?

#1
I have a Zenith combo VHS / DVD recorder at home. Most of the time I use DVD-RW discs to time-shift my viewing.

My problem is there was a show that I wanted to keep, so I recorded it on a DVD-R. It plays fine on the Zenith, but if I put it into my PC to copy it, it shows up as a blank disc.

Anybody have any ideas?

A DVD-R can only be read from a DVD -Rom or DVD burner. The format is unreadable by a CD-Rom or CD burner. Check that your drives say DVD on them...

mention the exact manufacturer and model details of ur dvd rw...

Also See if the firmware for your drive is up to date.

I found what the problem was. This was a DVD that I had made from a TV program on a DVD recorder (so there is no copy protection).

What happened was I didn't realize that the disc had to be finalized in the recorder before it could be viewed on another DVD player, or accessed in a DVD-rom drive.
