i have a medical issue and i would greatly appreciate real comments. to start with, i am a fit 62 yo white male. on no medications. my numbers are dead center perfect my heart is great. moving lower down is now a problem.
i have a history of kidney stones - 13 over the years. because of that part of my medical history i have a working knowledge of the prostate/bladder etc. yesterday i woke up with blood in my urine. no problem. the problem was blood clots in the urine. no more episodes through out the day. woke up in the middle of last nigh, no problem. 5am i had the blood and clots, again. the blood and clots have continued through out the day. made an appointment for friday, by video conferencing. no patients are being seen.
i called back and explained my situation to the nurse. the doctors assistant called back and i told her everything. she calls back and had me make an appointment with the urologist for friday morning.
kidney stones are ruled out.
talk to me. thanks

What information from us mongers would you be looking for? The wise thing to do, as you are doing is to have yourself checked out professionally, in person, by. Specialist. I personally don’t think video conferencing with an MD for a condition you described would result in definitive diagnosis.

Let’s approach this systematically. Despite a history of kidney stones, there is always pain associated with kidney stones and you don’t seem to mention that in your complaint.
So there are two kinds of blood in the urine called hematuria - painful hematuria and painless hematuria and you haven’t said which one it is but it seems like it’s the painless type.

Urinary tract infections can cause blood in the urine but typically not clots.
Urinary tract infections also come with nausea, diarrhea, fever, low back pain, and burning upon urination none of which you mentioned.
Cancer doesn’t seem very likely but can easily be diagnosed with a simple test called a “ urine cytology.” They take a sample of urine, spin it in a test tube in a centrifuge, take the sediment and cells at the bottom, smear it on a slide and look at it under the microscope. Kidney cancer, cancer of the tubes connecting the kidneys to the bladder call ureters and bladder cancel is detected that way.
That seems unlikely in this case but it’s a very easy and cheap test to do.

So despite a history of kidney stones you’ve had several episodes of blood in your urine with clots. I recommend Several things,
1) you can go to an urgent care center and have your urine checked. They’ll take a detailed history, examine you, do any necessary tests.
2) Have them do a Urinalysis, urine cytology, and a CBC - a blood count to make sure that the amount of blood and clots you’re passing is not so much that you’re becoming anemic.
3) If those tests don’t yield useful information then a visit with a board-certified urologis is certainly necessary and They are probably going to do a Simple sonogram of your bladder and maybe a cystoscopy which is passing a very thin, flexible fiber optic tube through the penis into the bladder to see exactly what’s going on causing the clots and bleeding. Bladder polyps are pretty common and that may simply be the cause of your situation.
Best of luck. Let us know how it goes.

I have suffered from both gross and microscopic hematuria during my life starting at age 15. Never stones/uti/cancer. Mine stems from weaking of kidney walls usually after getting over an illness. Our bodies produce antibodies to fight antigens. When my body is done with the fight antibodies attach to kidney walls and thus urine has blood in it. No other symptons. Sometimes only visual during uranisyls other times I am urinating red.
I say this to helpfully put your mind at ease as it can/may something minor. Most important things are get it checked out and dont stress as stress alone will make you sick.

Relax, keep calm. Anything and everything can be cured. I have been through episodes in my life when everybody shook their head, including some doctors. I stayed calm, believed in my own SPIRIT and found a practitioner, be it conventional or traditional that was not afraid of the problem. Believing in yourself attracts others that will cure you. Never doubt your own power when you at least momentarily drop the circumstances and align yourself with YOUR ETERNAL SPIRIT. You already started the healing process by reaching out. Countless waves of healing vibes from the members are received by you. Help will come from many avenues. Be wise to choose the help that rings true for you. Never delay.
