Tipping cocktail waitresses

I saw something last night at the Hard Rock in AC last night I want to get you guys opinion on.
Three '20 something' well dressed white guys, sitting at the same row of slots as my wife all get served a drink from the cute young WOC. First one hands her a buck and the other two barely acknowledge her. She stands there a minute *closing out the orders giving them plenty of time to tip her. One, a bit a a pudgy looking shit with a smirk kind of turns around and gives her a "are you still here" kind of look.
She finishes and leaves.
A little later on she brings my wife a drink and I hand her a tip and ask about what I saw. She said it happens more often than I would think. She was a very pleasant girl and I noticed her really hustling around the whole time we were in her area.

So my question is, do you guys tip the girl for every drink she brings you?
I always do, I figure they deserve it, and that's whether it's one of the young hotties at Borgatta or Hard Rock or one of the wrinkled veterans at the Tropicana.
What about you guys?

* By closing out the order, I mean at the HR the way to order a drink at the slots is to have your player card in and it's an option like getting your slot money. It saves your favorites. If you change machines after you order, the tablet on the girls tray tells her where you are.
Once she serves you she closes out the order. This is opposed to them just walking around asking who wants a drink.

I wouldn't necessarily figure you for a slots player. I 9 outta 10 times tip the waitresses brining me drinks. Typically $1 sometimes $2 every drink. Depends how well I'm doing on the table. I only play table games. I average $85 per hand so says the pit boss lol.

Anyway about 12 or so yrs ago my host told me the waitress make about $80k per yr. If we account for inflation some of these waitresses working full time or a bit over at the casinos if they still were at the same pace as before would be making about $115k+ that's not bad for serving drinks.

I still think they deserve the tips so do the valet. So do waiters so do barbers. Anyone who depends on tips to live.

I used to be a craps and Black Jack guy when I first started going out to Vegas. Plus throw some money on the Roulette wheel if I had some chips left over on my way back to the room. But honestly now when I go I want to shut my mind off and not want to have to think. Let me find a machine that amuses me, one that is on or facing a main isle so I can girl watch and also close to where the waitress pass on their way out of where ever they pick up the drinks.
Another thing I like to do, at the Tropicana in particular, is tip her a little extra the first time thru and tell her just have the same drink with her every time she passes so I don't have to reorder and miss a cycle.

I tip a $1 per drink and 20%-25% rounded up in cash (always give folding money) at restaurants (btw - proper tip is on bill minus tax, not total bill.)

I worked my way thru college as a waiter in a high class restaurant, had zero social life as best shifts were fri, sat nites and sunday all day and got home totally exhausted. Business man's lunch was particularly profitable as I understood when and when not a guy trying to close a deal wanted to be interrupted and I was always nearby so just a glance to me would get another round or drinks or whatever — btw one guy always wanted me as his waiter as I knew what he wanted when he ordered his "special" on the rocks (nonalcoholic as he want his customer to be loose but wanted himself to keep sharp). Made a bucket of money — to put it into perspective about 10X minimum wage at the time and all cash (less credit cards use back then) except for a piddling below min wage salary (they are legally allowed to pay < min wage as are allowed to count a certain amount of tips as wages.)

Couple things:
If you are at a table, and the waitstaff comes with whatever and has to interrupt to ask "who gets the xyz" you are dealing with amateurs and you should tip accordingly. Food should be served to you correctly without having to interrupt your conversation with your table mates.

When the waitstaff tells you about the specials, part of the spiel should include the price. If they don't include price - ask.

Even if 'Im at a regular bar, you usually tip a bartender a buck per drink. The cocktail waitress who walks around and serves you deserves more.
Good point. This girl was really hustling. She was walking briskly back and forth from the server area to the section on the floor she was assigned too.

I like tipping extra to a person really working hard...
I agree. Always do 20% for sit down dinner and up to 25% if they're really working hard to please. 15% for mediocre service ( ie have to keep asking for something bofore getting it). I don't go to casinos but I typically tip at a bar 1-2 dollars for each time served. Same if a waitress brings drinks to the table.

My normal is 2+ at a bar as I'm normally doing more than one drink since I'm usually not alone usually directly to the bartender. Oddly I find I'm almost never get thanked. Sometimes I'll give it at the end if I'm doing it by bill at the end instead of pay as your drink. My normal is 20% on dinner too. If it's just for cake or something I try to do 5+. If the place is over the top and not worth it I might go down to 15% depends upon a lot of things. All realizing at some places whether your server is attentive or not they might be pooling and splitting it.

I regularly sit in and play omaha when theres a game to be had, and i order the same drink to start every time... Black label, very little ice. Upon receiving my drink, I will tip the waitress $20. Why $20? Because I'm going to have at least 6 or 7 of those drinks within a couple of hours and its my experience that if you tip well from jump, said waitress will be looking to make sure youre not empty, and will know right away youre a gentlemen. I've even gotten a few numbers and hooked up with a few waitresses in my time. Was I the only one listening to that age old cliche from way back.... You catch more flies with honey??

Anyway, thats just my take on it.

I was thinking sometimes at a bar if I'm with a larger group, say around 10 of us usually we will all throw money on a pile and when someone orders something we just have the barkeep take from the pile, and we keep adding to it as needed. At the end of the night we just push the remaining money at him/her and they wind up with a very generous tip, more than if each person tipped a buck each time.

I kind of do the same thing at an open bar, big tip on the jar in the beginning so I never have to wait for my drink.

Even at a restaurant when I'm with the SO, if the bill is, lets say, $120 for dinner and a cpl of drinks, im still tipping the waitress/waiter at least 50 bucks. Again, why? Because next time i go back in there I know the service will be even better than the time before. Honestly, its just common sense. You sir, i could go drinking with!
