The state of the Hobby in New Jersey

Another mid sized agency just got busted. For a while, all I've been hearing from the NJ agency owners is that the business is slow and they aren't making money. But we know guys haven't totally stopped hobbying.

We know there's guys going to streetwalkers in Newark, Patterson, etc. but I don't think those are guys who used to be middle level agency customers. We also know that there is plenty of take out from the stripclubs. In addition, CL has grown substantially in NJ, but at the same time it seems like a lot of that growth is these same agencies advertising.

So, where has the business gone and where is it headed in NNJ?

Wish I could answer the question but I do about 80-90% of my mongering in NYC. Thats where its gone IMO. And I don't think thats unique for NNJ mongers. The prevailing consensus among NJ mongers seems to be that Jersey is too hot.

Just an educated guess but in NNJ there seems to be a higher LE to escort ratio then in NY. I'd rather deal with a NY agency or independent escort because I feel that there's less of a chance to get busted. Just my observations but I think there's something to it.

I dont know but all the places I go to have been complaining since nov 07 that this year has been really bad for the business. I also keep in touch with a few of the girls and alot of them even thou they live here travel around the country for work which kind of tells me that theres more money else where or working there is alot less risky. I do most of my mongering in asian communities

This economy has my hobbying money tight. I expect business to be 15% off from 2007 which was about 10% off from 2006. I think the agencies and indys should realize this and play Walmart with some price rollbacks to jumpstart the hobby again.
In the past I always spent 250 to 300 but now I tend to look for the bargains.

The busted agency was not one of the more careful. My sense is that the good agencies (IG, YLS) are doing fine. I have used both with confidence.

I used to go at least 5 times a week to this one place in the summer and during which time I asked the owner for a frequent flyer mile discount to which she granted. It was only a ten spot but still it was a discount. I was recently unemployed and she again gave me another discount for my continued patronage although I only go twice a week I pay twenty less then any other customer. Somedays I get other deals as well but when there slow there are always deals to be had you just need to ask.

The plain truth is most providers have priced themselves out of the market.

With today's economy most hobbyists simply don't have the cash to throw around they used to and simply won't put up with some of the bullshit a lot of providers think they can get away with.

My advice would be to roll back the prices some and provide a more enjoyable experience vis a vis the intangibles. Treat the hobbyists with a smile. Make them feel welcome. Don't watch the clock. Take a shower. Put on makeup and perfume and don't make the customer think he's on an assembly line.

One of the main reasons why the NJ agency owners arent making money isnt because it is slow-the main reason is alot of these girls will say "If you want to see me again don't call the agency-call me direct"."Instead of giving the agency $200 give me $150.00 for the hour and I will do you the same like I always do-agency style".Do you know how many times I have heard that in yhe past few years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a difference in the price between providers in NNJ and New York? I have been to a couple of AMPs in the city and the prices seem to be slightly higher and the AMPs in Jersey. I called a girl, who dances in Paterson and lives in Brooklyn, for some afternoon fun and she wanted an insane amount to come into NJ. I curirous to know if there is a difference in price.

I think I have a few reasons. Most of them could be attributed to the heat from LE.

Like Bunyon, I think a lot of guys in NNJ don't mind taking a trip into the city for action. There are plenty of providers, most places are open late and it is very easy to mix in with the crowd. In NNJ, if you go to a hotel or massage parlor, it is very easy to feel like somebody is watching you and knows exactly what you are there for. Not to mention the police in the suburbs of NJ always seem to have a hard-on for catching johns. In NYC, if you walk into a building, you're not looking over your shoulder as much as you would in NNJ.

Another reason is that there are lots of full service places in NJ that don't advertise. They may have put an ad in the Record years ago and have kept in touch with their clientele since relocating or being busted. A lot of these places may have recently placed an ad for a week or two just to let their regulars know they're open for business again. Once the word gets out to just enough, they stop advertising and go UTR.

It's been a while since I've tried a new place in NNJ. Most of the places that I see advertised in the Record have been advertising for years and have always been targets of police in their towns or known to give shitty service (Heavenly Exit, Ritz, place in Totowa on 46, etc.) The only place I've been going to on a regular basis has been a place that has been in business for over ten years and used to advertise years ago. They were busted once and relocated about half a dozen times. I've approached them to advertise on here but they don't want ANY exposure. I think that many places are choosing that route based on the penalties if they're caught. Another place that I've tried advertised about a year ago and have since stopped advertising. I reviewed them on here twice but it may be hard for guys to get in because now they supposedly dont' accept new clients.

I really think the combination of precautionary measures on the part of the "better" establishments and the search for an alternative venue in a place close by such as Manhattan have made this market very tough to crack if you don't already have an in. I mean look at CNJ and SNJ and it seems like things aren't as bad for the places in those areas. Maybe it's because the johns can't travel the distance to Manhattan and still frequent the places in those areas no matter the risk or price of services.

This paragraph by Ace, especially, captures my thoughts on the topic. There are undoubtedly more providers and provider venues in NYC and they blend in a lot better in densely populated NYC. There is definitely strength in numbers. LE in NYC can't hone in on johns and providers like in Jersey because there are simply too many. They wouldn't have time for any other enforcement. Cops in sleepy NNJ towns have nothing better to do than hit the local Dunkin Donuts and bust escorts in local hotels or massage parlors.

I believe quite a bit of it has to do with location. You can get lost in the hussle and bussle of the city. You cannot get lost in the middle of an upper-class community in Morris County. The groups and indie's that have done better in NJ appear to be the ones that favor the Motels/Hotels around New Brunswick, Edison, and Cherry Hill. I believe one of the reasons is the quantity of business type guys going into those places on a daily basis. Those places are known for their business seminars, etc. and it is easier to get lost in the shuffle once you walk through the door.

You guys really need to take this reunion somewhere else. Your conversation has absolutely nothing to do with the topic. What makes it an even bigger slap in the face is that you're doing it in a thread started by Slinky and pretty much breaking the one rule that peeves UG moderators the most which is asking to contact each other via electronic mail.

Not to mention that most people that see the topic don't want to come here and read your white knight fuckfest. Maybe that is why everyone is looking for action elsewhere.

Then again maybe these off topic posts do sum up the state of the hobby in NJ. One new piece of trim comes to the neighborhood and a bunch of knuckleheads all come out of the woodwoork acting stupid trying to contact her.

How about helping a friendly NNJer like myself out with this place. I cannot just run into NYC for a trip but could get away to an NNj place. Any way you can let me know. or how to search for them. DOn't mind doing a little home work.

Sorry....as I mentioned above. They are not taking new clients.

You could check the review section. I reviewed a place that was advertising a few months ago and has since gone under the radar. I can't guarantee that you will get in but it might be worth a try. I've heard from people that have tried since they stopped advertising that they've been turned away at the door.
