Rules Clarification - can you review someone who doesn't advertise here?

There seems to be some misunderstanding of this rule.

There is absolutely no rule against posting a legitimate review of a Spa, Indy or fast house that does not have an ad here.

Also no one has ever been banned from UG for posting a review of a non advertising Spa.

What we don't allow is posting the website of someone who doesn't advertise here. That's not fair to the Spas with a paid ad.

If you post the name and contact phone number with a legitimate review that's always been allowed.

What's not allowed is if after that first post the same person or two signs up with different handles and constantly reviews every new girl.

We might not catch you right away but eventually it will become obvious.

If you have an issue with this, if you disagree, or if you think one of your posts was deleted unfairly, here is your chance to discuss it.

As long as you discuss it like a gentleman there will be no repercussions.

So let's air it out here so we clear up any misconceptions.

Ok Billy, I'm going to take you at your word and hope we can clear something up for me. There's a particular provider who used to advertise here. I saw her several times and reviewed her each time. Then I didn't see her for about a year. In that time, I noticed that she stopped advertising here. I also saw her make some comments in a thread somewhere (I don't remember where) which led me to believe she stopped advertising because she had some kind of dispute with Slinky over her phone number.

Anyway, I went to see her, and was debating whether I should post a review. What I didn't realize is that her entire review thread and old advertising thread had apparently been removed. So, admittedly, I knew that posting a review might be unwelcome, but as I didn't think it would be a violation of any rule because I was posting a legit review, and because I like to review my positive experiences soon after as a way of reliving it and I get enjoyment in sharing it with the board, I decided to start a new thread to review this person.

The thread was up for a day or so, and there were even a few comments made, and then the thread was taken down, and I seem to have been placed in moderation as a result. I was accepting my fate, and haven't complained, but your post here certainly puts me in mind of my situation.

I've been a good member of the board for about 7 or 8 years and haven't been in moderation since my early days. I didn't think my review was violating a rule. It seem to me Slinky is not happy with the person I reviewed, and I know it's his board and he can do what he wants, but I don't know why I've been punished for starting a thread on a previous advertiser who no longer advertises.

What if others want to review this person? How will they know that they shouldn't do it, especially if they don't know that she used to advertise and no longer does? Also, is there any path for me to get out of moderation?

Thank you for your time.

First off, you are a good poster and I enjoy reading your reviews.

Since you are being a gentleman about this I will be honest with you and let you know how you got caught up in this.

It's ironic because I was not thinking about this particular situation at all when I made this post but when she saw it she immediately thought only about herself

So here is what really happened. She wanted her ad to appear a certain way. But it did not jive with what was best for Slinky and the board so he didn't want to go along.

She stopped advertising but her review thread remained at the time, but with the way Slinky wanted it formatted.

Some time later she tried again to get Slinky to it it her way and the two were going back and forth and offers and counter offers were made.

Before anything was settled low and behold your review popped up giving her a review thread in the format she wanted. So given that this occurred during the negotiations it certainly looked like she had circumvented the negotiating and had you post a review.

Were you a willing participant? I don't know.
But given the timing, it looked at least like something was off.

Remember Slinky has been doing this a long time. He has seen providers use shills and other methods to get free advertising.

If you are totally innocent in this and it was all a coincidence then reach out to Slinky at slinkybender@utopiaguide.com and pleadmypur case to be removed from moderation.

To your credit you have continued to be a solid contributing member so that is certainly in your favor.

The model for this board is that the providers pay the freight. Most boards make the guys pay to see other reviews.

There is no rule against reviewing girls who don't advertise here and obviously the LI section is full of them.

But sometimes providers try to take advantage and often use guys as shills to get free advertising. It's a balancing act Slinky and the mods walk every day, trying to be fair to everyone.

Thank you Billy for your prompt reply. I knew there had been some kind of dispute and that it involved her phone number. In fact, at one point when she put up a new number, I used that and she scolded me and said it was only for new people, and I should use the number I had. I was debating whether to put up a review, decided I would, and then realized the review thread had been pulled down.

At that point, I really should have known better and just not put up the review, but I went ahead anyway because I felt it was a legit review and therefore wouldn't violate the rules. I certainly didn't think it could be interpreted as trying to advertise for her. However, I didn't know she and Slinky were still in the midst of negotiating about their dispute when I put that up. I actually thought whatever had occurred was over and done with because it had been a while since I saw her advertise here.

I did decide to use the phone number I had found in another place where she was advertising, because I knew that was the number she wanted out there, and the number I have was just for existing customers. So given what you've said, I see why that especially raised the red flag. Again, I wasn't trying to advertise for her, I was just hoping it would be ok to have a place to continue to have reviews for her.

While it sucks to be in moderation, I now have a better understanding as to why. I'll just try to keep my head down and contribute when I feel I've got something useful to say. Maybe I'll earn forgiveness over time.

Once again, thanks, and I'm glad you enjoy my reviews.

What's funny is that I posted this thread because I was alerted back channel of some UG bashing and basically made up shit about being banned for posting reviews of providers not advertising on UG

It was to give guys like @Mighty Spearsman and some others a chance to man up and air their greivences here instead. They would have or will (if they man up) gotten the same calm response @Lovecraft69 got.

But an unintended result was that a provider (will remain unnamed) unhappy with the rules saw this as an opportunity to reopen a gripe she had with Slinky.

After blowing up my phone all day Friday trying to convince me she was right and that this thread was about her I finally gave her a link to the thread on the other place to show her what I was talking about.

So what does she do? She enlisted a bunch of her top Simps to take over that thread, on that board and make the whole thread about her.

Which really just proves that she is willing to get people to post shit for her, which makes her look bad in the situation @Lovecraft69 got sucked into. Doesn't look so much like a coincidence anymore given her antics on the other board.

BOTTOM LINE, NO ONE, AND I MEAN NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN BANNED FOR POSTING A REVIEW OF A PROVIDER WHO DOESN'T ADVERTISE ON UG

I just want to say, I have never gone on another site to bad mouth or complain about this board. I may not always agree with all the rules, but I understand why they are there. And after Billy's clarifications, I have a much better understanding of what got me into trouble.

This board provides real value for this hobby. I don't know why anybody would discourage people from making contributions here.

Hey Billy, I’m not really vocal here, I just log on here and there but you’ve been fair to me. It was maybe a month ago that I asked if I could link a social media to a thread and you said no.I didn’t think you were dropping the hammer on me. I thought you were being fair, but firm, nothing wrong with that.

For the record, that place is not an advertiser here, but I’ve never had a problem with posting.

Thanks.

I mean look, Slinky has rules for a reason. Regardless of what people think they aren't arbitrary, he designed a board based on experience and has vision on how he wants it to work.

I get it too that people don't like to follow rules. It's human nature to bitch about being told what to do.
