I had not been to one of Alannah Star's parties in a while, and wasn't able to scare up anything intersting to do, so I figured I'd check this one out. Right now it seems like there are very few options for "tranny parties" in NYC: you've got Allanah on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Satrudays and Sundays, and Sunny on Tuesdays and Fridays, with Ina's on Satursdays and some girl running a small party in Tribeca in friday's which all i've ever heard is that almost no one goes to. And then there's the Village Cafe being the only full time spot.
Anyway, Allanah's Saturday night party is called "push" and it's at Fusion Lounge on 10th Ave and 54th St. They get $30 at the door (more on this later), and it's not a disco/club like she used to throw parties at, and I'm not even sure I'd call it a lounge. It's more just a regular bar, with a very small seating area up front with about 6 seats, and a back room which has a few seat and two small sofas. The bar area itself runs a good portion of the space, and is fairly narrow: narrow enough that walking behind it is tricky since there's really only room enough for one person in back of the bar stools, so if someone is standing there it easily stops traffic.
It is somehwat dimly lit, but not so much that you can't get a good look at who you are talkng to. The music is louder than you might expect at "just a bar", but not so overwhelming that you can't hold a conversation with the person next to you. While nowhere near "plush" or sumptuous", the place is comfortable and reasonsbly clean and the outfittings are fairly new/undamadaged.
I got there around 1AM (since my past experince is that if you get to these events before midnight, they are empty) and the place was crowded but not full. The ratio of guys to girls was good (probably less than 2 guys to each girl?) and the girls who were there were generally attractive. Also, it wasn't the same group of girls who go to every single party every night of the week: there were girls there who hardly ever come out to these events. The girls weren't overly friendly, but also not overly pushy, so I guess you get the good with the bad there. Some girls were giving lapdances in the back room for - I think - $20 a pop, which looked like they were middle level contact dances.
Pretty much all the girls ther are working girls looking to pick up tricks. There were varying levels of sales pressure, and I noticed some girls came and went several times during the night (to hotels? to cars? I don't know), while others left once and never came back or didn't leave at all with any customers. personally, I think if you go to these events, you are better off going with the idea of meeting girls and collecting numbers for later visits, to avoid th epressure on the girl to get back to the spot to see if she can catch more dates.
I noticed on Cl some guy slamming this party because "why should yo upay $30 to meet girls who you can just hook up with on CL?". I have 2 reasons: firstly, at least at this party, a lot of the girls are not on CL. Secondly, if you call a girl on CL she's not going to spend a whole lot of time talking with you on the phone before setting up a date. Here, you can get to know the girls by sitting and talkng to them (will cost you a drink or two) before deciding whether or not you want to buy a date. I'm sure it's worth the entry and a few drinks if you can avoid the expense of a few bad dates that way. I certainly see GG escorts setting up "meet and greets" where guys pay more just to meet a group of escorts and chat.
So, is it worth it? I wouldn't go all the time, but I did enjoyself, I did see a bunch of good looking TS's, and it was a different night out. The spot was ok, the promoter and her people were nice. If you're thinking of checking one of these parties out, this one on the night I went would have been a good place to start (with the caveat that based on the size of the spot - being small - there's probably a good deal of variablitiy from week to week).
I do think I am going to get a little bit more back into this scene and will report more as I hit some of the other spots.
