You are correct the longer lives are due to modern medicine. All bodies are not the same and using herbal medicines with no quantitative evidence of efficacy seems more risky than taking proven legitimate medication

As men age the prostate tends to enlarge which cause an increase in PSA. It is estimated that almost all men die with prostate cancer present if they live long enough. Biopsies and treatments can have a detrimental effect on quality of life.

Best way to find out if insurance will cover tests is to call them.

What I understand is if you have close relatives that either have had cancer linked to BRCA1/2 genes or have been tested for the genes and have them, they will pay and it is prudent IMHO to get tested.

For example, Kayleigh McEnany, White House Press Secretary for TRUMP, although only in her low 30's and no symptoms, had immediate relatives who had breast cancer and were tested and had the genes so she got tested and found she had them too. She had prophylactic breast removal and after she has her finished having kids will have her reproductive organs removed as cancer rate with people having genes is upwards of 50%.

Just to give you an idea of how deadly (no pun intended) serious this is Male breast cancer is rare (0.1%) although the risk is significantly increased to 7-8% with BRCA2
