This thread and the comments brings back so many memories. It was in the 90's where you could find a SW in Chelsea by the highway. I used to go to clubs there and make the wrong, or right, turn and you would see women waiting for a car to pick them up. Being on foot was not the ideal since there was no place to take them.

I picked up the Village Voice and NYPress out of curiosity for a long time and took the plunge on an indy girl uptown who charged a fraction (.6) of what girls would today. She rode me as if she had a point to prove. I went back a couple of times and even ran into her in my neighborhood a couple of years ago. We exchanged numbers but nothing ever materialized.

Julies was a great place Jennifer ruined me for all bbbj providers in the future. She easily got two pops out of my in 30 minutes without using her hands. I still hope, somehow, that she surfaces and I can have her again. Marilyn, Corrine, Destiny and Kitty were all great times.

'92 I got off the plane in the fall and discovered NYC. Within three days I found Show World. Best shows upstairs and wildest trans friendly theater in the basement. Sally's II had a pool table with all kinds of ruckus and Edelweiss was the spot. That did me well until I discovered the Harmony (two locations, one in Chelsea) and a place called Club 23 (I think that was the number) on 7th ave where every lap-dance was as a prelude to sex in on the couch in public. There Angel's Cabaret on Walker which was a Trans club a few nights a week which locked their doors an hour before official closing. Over there I developed a reputation for being a slut and got used a few times by the girls to spice up their stage time. Hellfire and Paddles were pretty wild too. I like the new scene but I do really miss the easy walk-in to a wild time. Flip side is the kids these days, they've been raised on crazy porn and pretty much anyone I go home with is nuts in all the right ways. If you think NYC has changed for the worse, thank your stars you're not living in San Francisco.

I was young, just finished college, got a job and no obligations. From 2004 to 2010, I did quite a lot of AMP and indi jumping. I found several gems but a lot of duds too. Average price in the amps and the indies was 200$. I tipped based on the service that I got.
Also payment was always at the end of the session. Guys agree or disagree with me on this one but am i right.
BBBJ, DATY, RJ and GREEK was not common in these days but there were always one or two providers at an AMP that would give it to you if you asked. Or sometimes you didn't have to ask. A lot of the girls that I encountered only wanted to CBJ and CFS which were dull sessions for me. It was very hit or miss.
I wasn't aware of utopiaguide back then. And who remembers the ads in the back of village voice and A SITE WE DON'T MENTION HERE ON UG (MOD EDIT). damn the prices in amps are just out of this world. I don't know about other guys, but if I paid 600/H for a session, I would want more than standard cbj and cfs. To me these are dull sessions. I would want all the acronyms under the sun.
On my birthday 2009, I found an indi provider who I spent the night with for 800$. I had 3 pops and a movie and dinner, which in total cost me about 900$.
Now I'm seeing 800/2H. 600/H no gfe.

You might call it an old man rant, but you're correct. I haven't done this nearly as long as many here but my feelings are the same. Started in 2010 and even compared to then, it's a different world. The sun is setting on this hobby.

If anything it has gotten more weird.

Back in the day - all cash, no cell phones, no messaging apps
it was more impersonal. There was always some risk
calling weird numbers from payphones but minimal.

Simpler times.

Now with sugar babies, phone messaging, cash-app, etc, etc
it is a whole different game.

Same game just different rules.

Maybe I should have said for me then. The climate has changed. I remember scouting from the Village Voice classifieds in addition to the various web platforms. OP mentioned Koreatown and while is a sliver of Manhattan real estate, it doesn't have the same energy it once had at night where you'd see people hanging out in the streets. Chinatown just feels like a giant slum now re the MP scene. I don't go down there anymore nor do I have the patience to find a place that is clean, offers actual showers along with other services.

Sugar babies and SA, not my thing. I still go out on dates and entertain women, so I'm not that desperate. It's a department I've never had a problem in. I'll probably call it quits soon. I went on a hiatus for years so breaking this habit is easy.

Went on a hiatus from the hobby myself a while ago. During which my absence from this board caused me to be removed as a moderator. Story for another time.

Once the 12 year affair ended, and with it my supply of unlimited free black pussy I re-entered the game but with different goals.

And luckily I found someone I decided to see exclusively and make it more of a true SB situation (as opposed to the one and done experiences seen in that SA thread). It turned out much better than expected actually.

I'll be visiting NYC after a very long hiatus. I enjoyed a "golden era" (for me) of AMP's 2003 - 2010. I haven't partaken since 2016. I have a feeling I'm in for disappointment, unless I do some serious research. I remember the prices for full service being 200. I certainly wouldn't pay 600 for that same service now, but I understand maybe going up to 300-350. I don't think I could handle giving my ID or employer info, though. The anonymity of mongering in 2003- 2010 was excellent. There were so many run down office buildings that could house AMPs too.

I now live down south (not FL) and it's becoming very common to encounter 500+ for a good provider. AMP's are completely unheard of in my state, and any asian "massage" place in my city is generally legit (in that it doesn't offer sex; but it probably serves as a front for immigration). It's not so much the "Bible belt" factor that's the problem. It's more the "annoying white Christian ladies who rage about alleged 'human trafficking'. They're the same irritating southern women who go on moral vanity crusades to remove Confederate monuments etc. They are similar to the suffragette archetype and they are POISON for mongering in any of its forms.

As for myself, I've found a great black/latina who gives a wonderful massage with great teasing and a CBJ for $180. I love black women and latinas.

I have some great memories of perusing this board. Lots of humor and laughs.
