Aaaah .... The Melody ! Later, the Harmony !!! It's because of the times that I spent in my wayward youth in these places, that all subsequent stripclub/underground places seem to be lacking to me . Although the places could be dumps, there were certainly fun times to be had there, and at very reasonable prices. Also, since there were enough girls, and enough guys, the hard sell hustle that you find at many UG events these days was much less evident in the Harmony/Melody. >>
Thanks JJ, It's good to share these memories of my youth with someone that was there right along with me. Heck we could have even been sitting next to each other at the Melody at one time. While my memories are of the women..there was this one oldtimer at the Melody Burlesk house ....he would bring his own flashlight and shine it up the girls privates on stage. That's probably the only time I remember a customer besides something other than a blank face or the friends I went to the place with.
I was introduced to the Burlesk houses at 15 by a friend who also introduced me to SCREW magazine ...where we'd make prank phone calls and one day followed through to an incall establishment.
Still for a dollar for a high mileage lapdance at the Melody nothing could compare. Actually I remember places like Times Squares SHOW WORLD starting a feel of a dancer for a buck as a sliding window opened as you had to feed tokens/quarters to the booth or lose the view. One time a guy got his head stuck when the sliding window came down on his neck. OUCH! I think the J Geils band wrote a song about the SHOW WORLD one on one booths entitled....She's a Beauty. Anyway I'm ramblin here but just to close ..one of the most memorable one on one booth expeiences I had was with a very young Mimi Miyagi. Ohhhhhhh Awwwwwwww! Memories may be beautiful but yet ...........;-)
