Does France's new model law also apply the escort pics?

The new law also regulates the use of Photoshop in commercial photographs. If an image has been digitally altered to make a model look thinner or larger, it must be labeled “retouched photograph.”

Can you imagine if a law like this were passed in this country? Perhaps in the same way massage parlors are often busted for "unlicensed massage" rather than prostitution, they would go after lots of women for this. And it would not require sting operations and the like so they would be able to bust lots of them using very little "man power."

In addition it might enable them to go after the websites like ************ which they have been trying unsuccessfully to shut down.

There is an easy way to get around the law - just label every photograph as a “retouched photograph."

This is how it is done in California (prop 65 I think) where citizens could sue for cancer causing chemicals were in products if the manufacturer didn't warn the consumer. This was thought to provide an incentive for manufacturers to remove listed chemicals from their products - but instead manufacturers just put the warning on virtually every product.

I think we need warnings about the providers themselves more than for their photos. There oughta be a Prop 65 disclaimer law for toxic pros.

I made a similar comment on another website recently where there was a discussion about GMO labeling: what if large food manufacturers just put on every single product "this product may or may not contain Genetically Modified Organisms" (side note: on Jimmy Kimmel they had a segment asking people on the street about GMO's and most of the people who objected could not even say what they were

I saw one today where they asked people if they were happy with Obama's pick for the Supreme Court, Fidel Castro. They all thought it was great. One dummy even said he liked the pick but was upset that the Republicans were going to block it. But nothing beats this

If people had to take a test in order to vote, I think the majority would fail it.
I remember a few elections back, a guy getting ready to vote and he asked someone if Peter King was on the ballot for re-election. I felt like grabbing the ballot out of the guy's hand and kicking him out the door. After all, if you don't know about your Congressman - especially someone with the kind of press that King generates - then you shouldn't be voting. I know that voting for judges can be overwhelming, but you should at least know your Representatives and Senators. And you can always do what I do and go through the Newsday centerfold ballot before you step up to the booth. You can easily spot me on Election Day. I'm the one carrying the Newsday ballot in my hand at the polls.

I know I see a lot of warning labels on food items that have nothing to do with nuts that say (words to this effect) may be manufactured in facility that uses nut products. My container of Almond milk has allergen warning that says " contains almonds", my jar of peanut butter has warning that it "contains peanuts" and my bottle of scotch has warning "consumption of alcoholic beverages impairs your ability to operate motor vehicles".

Under the nanny laws there is simply no incentive for companies to leave out the warning no matter how obvious.
