Best Pizza in NYC (Queens, Brooklyn, Bx, Manhattan, SI and Long Island)

Ville Monte
732 Old Bethpage Rd, Old Bethpage, NY 1180(I posted review on this place last March but still in business and still very good)

Although some people order pies for takeout, their claim to fame is the selection of single slices on display from the perhaps 30 different topping configurations at lunch time. Be aware that although the long lines at lunch time may look intimidating, they move fast.

ps. while you're in the area stop in at Bottles and Values next door for large selection of booze and wine at really good prices. You need to be on their email list (they will not swamp your inbox) for their discount pricing and occasional discount coupons sent out at various calendar events (last one was "we refund your sales tax" for April 15th-17th". I left with 2 different Irish Whiskey bottles after sampling them at their sample counter (usually poured by 1 of 2 MILFs in black evening dresses).
The best!
Emillios, back in the day Carmellas and Branchinellis in Commack LI has some good pie. Square and round.
Emilio's..overrated!
I will respectfully have to disagree. I've been going there on and off for thirty years and I think they have consistently had some of the best pizza on Long Island. I don't know if their tomato sauce is home-made or not, but it might as well be, sweet and perfectly spiced. The cheese is excellent, the slices not dripping with oil. And the crust is always properly baked, firm and delicious, never limp or soggy. As far as the kids taking over, I see the original owner from over 30 years ago still behind the counter and, once again, I haven't noticed the quality of their product having declined. Remember, aside from a salad, pizza is all that you can buy there, so they have to make it well or they wouldn't have survived and kept thriving for more than three decades.

I'm really quite surprised that since I mentioned Colosseo, the few replies have been negative, yet the place is always busy and I know it remains a favorite of many locals who have plenty of other other pizza joints to choose from. I guess, like picking an escort, YMMV, everyone's taste is a little different and, based on that, there's no right or wrong. Everyone seems to have their favorite and this place remains mine.
Garbage!

For me it depends on which style pizza I am eating. for a bar pie its eddies in new Hyde park. For a regular slice glorias in forest hills or amore in flushing or new park in Howard beach. Old world style is DiFara hands down.

Anybody ever try a slice of upside down pizza? I remember reading about it last year in Newsday.
I searched and found the review.

Sotto Sopra Pizza in Massapequa serves ‘upside-down’ Sicilian
The upside down pie is great, if you love garlic get it with garlic ,thee best ! Their original name was Rosa''s which is in Middle Village, due to a dispute the name had to change.

L&B Spumoni Gardens is famous for that. Last time I went however I was disappointed so either my memory is better than the truth or they have slipped a few notches.

Not sure if it was mentioned but Saverinos in Massapequa on Broadway (in the A& S Pork store) makes a worthy pie.. wood burning oven, 00 flour, San Marzanos yada yada yada..

I worked near Di Faras for a few yeas, so I could peek and see how insane the line was, sometimes was able to walk right up and get a slice.... I always cracked up when the line is down the block, and there are people (tourists) standing on line dragging suitcase, then the Yeshivas let out for lunch.... all the Hasidic kids overwhelm the sidewalks and head to BAgel Hole.. what a crazy place, Apparently Dom owns the bulding? His son has a hero shop right around the corner that is pretty good...

La Piazza in Merrick, and Plainview puts out a good slice also....and I built my own oven last fall... and cook cook a fucking righteous pizza...

Going to Di Fara has been ruined by idiot yelpers/"influencers". I used to go there sit right down and order a pie. I'm not going to wait on line for 2 hours for a pizza (or anything else for that matter). You even have some of these idiots complaining on on Yelp that's a crust is charred - it's supposed to be you fucking morons. We will have to see what happens when they open in a stupid fucking Williamsburg food court.

Cugini in Mineola on Jericho, always have to stop there when I am over that way. Its not gourmet, sexy, over the top, its the dough, the chew in the dough, the crust, and the sauce. Also Mama Mia in Northport on 25A, they're Penne Ala Vodka slice is outstanding!

I am a traditionalist, I don't do the Baked Ziti, Macaroni and Cheese, Chicken Tikka Masala type of pies.

I'm finding most of the new pizza places in Manhattan overpriced and disappointing. These places that make all these different pies in the morning and then let them sit out on the counter cold all day. I'm not paying $5 for reheated congealed pizza. This is why I pretty much only buy whole pies.

I fear the hate mail, anger and criticism that this might evoke (especially from the Italians) but I have been to the celebrated and spectacular and the best, wood fire and brick oven and coal and made the trips into Brooklyn and Pepe's in Yale, New Haven Connecticut, paid those ridiculous prices and it was all fun and adventurous.

(Now, here it comes) Costco is not a bad pizza. I mean too cheesy but if you can handle that thick slab of rich decadent melted scamorza or mozzarella and I like to reheat it at home to dry out the doughiness --- but the value and satisfaction drives me back. And just to watch the families on the cheap plastic chairs forgetting all their prior arguments for a spell -- everybody's happy. Dad scored a bargain; mom doesn't have to cook; and the kids wouldn't know the difference between Costco pizza and the undisputed best pie on the planet.

I’m going to make a few phone calls to my Italian friends in Little Italy about what you said. It ain’t gonna be pretty ..

Fair enough. But in fairness to me, before De Niro and Pesci have their batting practice on me, at least let me offer them a hot slice. Yeah, its a sloppy American imitation but I'll be damned if it don't satisfy in a pinch. And with some good vino and half drunk and laughing with friends under the stars on a soft summer night in my back yard, the exquisite quality is a mere afterthought. (did I talk myself out of a beating?)

With the plastic on cardboard garbage many pizzerias are selling these days I have to confess that I sometimes just opt for the $1/slice places. At least for normal run on the mill I'm on the run pizza if it's available. And if I want a good sit down at a place I often just avoid the pizza altogether at many places.

Word has it the boss is giving you a pass. But your pizza had better be good!
