Oh it definitely lessens their credibility especially since I watch Fox news with a bottle of astroglide
(exaggerated for comedic effect).
Seriously it does lessen credibility but really hasn't most "news" become opinion shows?
For instance, if the new stations do a piece on a health issue many channels use a pretty female doctor. Couldn't they just use an ugly old male doctor?
I really think fox news should use this as their slogan:
"Come for the news but stay for the titties"
