I wanted to post this before leaving for trip 3:
While my experience on my first visit was good enough to prevent me from generating the same level of animosity about my disappointing second trip that Anon has expressed. Of course, it helped that I didn’t catch anything. (Screening the girls is one thing, but the only way to completely prevent this would be to screen the guests as well). I have to admit that if my second trip had been my first trip, I doubt I would have made a second trip. It wasn’t a disaster, but I did leave with the feeling that I had been somewhat shortchanged.
One of the biggest problems during trip #2 was the weather; as it alternated between pouring rain and a light drizzle from the time I arrived, until the morning I was preparing to leave. While I was waiting for the car to the airport the sun came out, and I saw my first bikini of the entire trip on my way out the door. Like most of the Caribbean, without the sun shining the DR reverts from tropical paradise to third world country pretty quickly. In contrast it rained every day during my first trip, but only a brief late afternoon thunderstorm, with bright sun before and after. By the way, Anon has it backwards, the rainy season is Feb- March. While October and November is the tail end of hurricane season, the weather is normally fine, unless of course there is an actual hurricane.
Another near constant annoyance during trip 2 was that one of the other guests was a complete jackass. That may sound trivial, but on their standard package you are basically sharing a 4-bedroom house with 3 other guests and their companions, so you see a lot of the other guests. If it’s raining it’s impossible to avoid them. If it sounds like I may have had an issue with this guy, I was not alone. The girls and other guests hated him, and on the second night he was arrested and kicked out of the DR for hospitalizing a cab driver after an argument over $2. In the UG rules Slinky mentions not walking into a party and farting. That was this guy’s SOP. He’d start telling every stupid ethnic joke (polish, Italian, etc) you’ve ever heard, changing it to a Ukrainian joke. The girls had enough English to understand the insult, but not enough to know it was supposed to be funny. Not a way to make friends.
There was one other negative beyond Vikings control, but something anyone planning to visit can avoid if they wish. My first trip was during the week, arriving on Sunday and departing Wednesday, the second trip was on a weekend, arriving Thursday and leaving Sunday. During the first stay, we had any place we went during the evening pretty much to ourselves. Since the second trip was on the weekend, most of the bars and clubs were packed. If I’m looking for a girl a crowd is a good thing, if I’m already with one it’s not.
The most critical difference between the two trips was the attitude of my female companions. There is some irony in how the two trips worked out. Before both trips I had scoped out the girls at the resort on the web site, and had made mental note of the girls I found attractive. A trip to Viking is not exactly inexpensive, and before plunking down that hefty deposit you should have realistic expectations. If what you are looking for is the greatest number of anonymous sexual encounters possible in a 24 hour period, this is not for you. As Slinky pointed out, there are places you can get more “bangs” for the bucks. The norm at Vikings is to be with one girl for at least 24 hours, and YMMV as to the amount of sex that occurs.
You should also be aware that some of the marketing material, in particular the video that they sell, is overly “optimistic” when it comes to some of the facilities. I purchased the video before my first trip, and re-watched it after my return from this trip. There are scenes in the video filmed in the standard villa (look for a large checkerboard pattern on the floor), but some of the locations shown I’ve never seen. After three trips, I’ve never seen the tennis court in the video, even without naked girls making out on it.
Two of the three villas they use are at least 300 yards from the ocean. I’ve never seen the private beach, but I’ve been told it is just an empty strip of sand that is a little too barren and remote. Everyone just goes to the public beaches in Sosua or Caberete where you can get a beach umbrella and a pina coloda brought to you.
I think the standard accommodations are fine, but they are more along the lines of a nice bed and breakfast or inn than a deluxe hotel or resort. The executive villa, which is shown on a separate video on the web site, is more luxurious. Viking has recently started offering an ocean front villa at extra cost, but I have not seen it.
Having said all of that, they must be doing something right. On each trip a higher percentage of the guests are returnees. I mean, I’m already planning my forth trip. Latest Trip Report
My recent trip was a near perfect example of why this place is developing a loyal following. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon, with perfect weather.
There was a larger than usual number of girls on hand, with the usual contingent of 10 Ukrainian girls, a couple of Brazilian girls, and pair of Dominican college girls that are not part of the normal staff, but work on special request. Since a number of guests had departed that afternoon, there were 6 or 7 girls available.
There are 4 connecting flights from the US to Puerto Plata; I had made a point of booking the one that came in the earliest. This gave me an hour and a half head start selecting a companion compared to the other arrivals.
Overall the level of talent on hand was deeper that I had encountered previously. One of the Brazilian girls I’d have to rate as a solid 9.8 – and 10’s don’t exist in my reality. Of course she was already with a guy spending an extra $2k for the beachfront package. This brings another thing anyone going should be aware of: there have been a couple of girls on each trip that have been just completely over the top as far as looks go, but the guest’s pecking order is determined by how much you spend on your package. If you are on the standard package, chances are you will not see the really incredible women until the first night’s dinner, when they show up on the arm of a guy on an executive or VIP package.
No matter, of all the girls there was only one that I had no real interest in, and that was just personal taste on my part. This girl’s boobs insured a level of popularity with a lot of guys. One girl in particular caught my eye at once: a type of face more cute than beautiful ( think of a young Ginger Lynn), slim, long legs, and the damnedest blue eyes I’ve ever seen. Plus she had a loose halter top cut down to her navel, so I kept getting a peek at an enticing B cup every time she moved. The one down side was that her English was pretty weak. Once in the sack, we didn’t sleep till we ran out of positions to try. There’s something to be said for a dancers movement and endurance.
After mixing beer, wine, and gin, the first day, I woke up with a bit of a headache. My girl had a cure for that. It turned out her French was better than her English. This became our morning routine, and it was an amazing way to start the day.
One of the other guests wanted to make the trek to Ocean World with his girl, so we joined them. That’s typical, most of the time the girls are more comfortable doing things together. It so happens he was with the big boobed girl I wasn’t impressed with. We got back to the villa just in time for dinner; I had hoped to get a massage and afternoon nookie in before eating.
Here’s how you know you’re on a roll: after dinner most of us went to the casino. I bought $300 in chips, gave half to my girl to play blackjack with, played the other half myself. An hour and a half later, I was back up to $300, and she cashed out $350. I have never walked out of casino after winning a dime before. We went back to villa and celebrated.

Shortly after my last trip, Viking *****ed all of their customers that they were moving into a different villa. In the past they had 2 villas at 2 prices - the standard villa had 5 bedrooms, and the executive villa had 3 larger bedrooms that included whirlpool tubs in each room. They also had access to a 3rd villa when needed.
According to the announcement, the new villa executive villa contains only 5 bedrooms, and they no longer will offer a "standard" level package. They did away with the cheap seats and replaced them all with sky-boxes
As to long timers among the girls: no, generally not. The girls are not citizens of the Dominican Republic, and there are limits on how long they can stay. The "Russian" girls - actually from Ukraine or Belarus- normally stay 6 to 8 weeks. They have started staffing some Brazilian girls that seem to stay somewhat longer. A few girls will make more than one visit, out of the 4 trips I've taken; on each stay one or two of the girls were repeating a previous stint at the villa. As of my last trip, there was no formal selection period or process. It was first come, first serve, but guys on a higher package hold trump. That’s why I would always try to get the flight from the US that arrives earliest – there’s one connection that arrives 2 hours ahead of any other flight. While acccording to rules, a guy spending more money than you can take priority over you when it comes to selection, I've never seen it happen.
When you get to the villa, the available girls are lounging around the villa, just mingle, check things out, and if a girl tickles you fancy, ask her to stay with you. Here are the experiences I’ve had in the past with the selection process: the first trip I arrived in late afternoon with one other quest on my flight. There were 5 girls available, but they were wandering around the villa, I never saw them at the same time. Because I was waiting for some type of structured selection process., I let my first choice slip away. I thought I would see her during the formal selection process. I had a blast with the girl I ended up with, but still lusted after the one who got away.
The second trip there was 8 guests on my flight, and because it was raining all of the girls were sitting at a couple of tables on the patio. With 9 guys selecting at once, I made my selection a little too quickly.
The third trip went perfectly: there were 7 or 8 girls there, and I had come in on the early flight, so I had a couple of hours to check things out and hookup. My choice can be seen at http://www.geocities.com/goofy3pa/vacation_2004.htm
The most recent trip presented an interesting twist. A stroke of luck, there had been a group of guys that had just left, so when we got to the villa, there were 11 girls (9 Ukrainian\Belarusian, 2 Brazilian,) and only 2 guys. The only problem was that all of the Russian speaking girls where sitting at one table on the patio, chatting away in Russian. Trying to break into the conversation was proving difficult: I thought I might need a cutting horse to separate one from the herd. This resolved its self when on of the girls selected me, pulling me aside and asking if I’d like to walk down to the beach with her. Ended up stating with her for the whole trip, and even extended the stay for an extra day.

This place looks tempting. You wouldn't have any picture of the "Elle" that you mentioned would you? The website right now does have some pictures of nice looking girls. Wonder whether "Elle" is in there. Are those picture really represent who is currently available? If you see picture of someone that you like, can you reserve someone?
The person who come up with this idea was pretty smart. Essentially, it was best of two worlds: model like European girls and a paradise like DR. I think that it was mentioned some where in the posting that you can arranging something cheaper. I don't kind of agree. I checked the price of villa like this. It cost $1,200 for a week. If you want to fly in someone from Russia, at least another 2K. It takes a lot connection to arrange this.

They have no problem with guests taking photos, but many of the girls are not comfortable with having photos taken of them while topless.

A couple of items of note from my last trip: For anyone that has been there is the past: They have the same owner, but he is much more involved and has replaced the two managers that had been handling the day to day operations of the place. This is good news on 2 fronts. Their customer service has really stepped up. I was greeted at the gate at the airport, taken to the VIP lounge to be greeted by a new full time employees, a former Miss World contestant (no joke, she has a modeling portfolio including shots on stage during the contest, and she's amazing looking in person) to have a drink while filling out my tourist card. Their driver retrieved my bags while I was filling out the card. Turns out she works as a sort of concierge. In the past I had to fend my own way through immigration and fetch my own bag, and on occasion wait 20 minutes for the driver to show up. The other good news is the new “personnel” manager is fantastic eye candy, almost as much so as the companions.
One thing that gave me pause - on the ride from the airport the "concierge" made appoint of telling me quite proudly that in the past year 2 guests married girls form the resort, and one couple has kid on the way. I guess along with the money, some sort of "Pretty Woman" syndrome is part of the girls motivation for coming to the resort.

Questions about Vikings Resort
It's been a long time since this thread was created. I recently came across the Viking's Resort site and it's left me rather curious about it. I followed goofy's 5 reviews(4 on this thread and 1 other one titled "trick or treat!"). Hopefully goofy is still around and will post another update regarding any recent trips he might have had there. The last one was in 2006.
I'm also a member of another mongering forum that I won't mention but the overwhelmingly consensus appears to be that Vikings and other "all-inclusive" resorts(and there certainly are plenty nowadays), are a bit of a rip-off. I have a slightly different perspective on these kinds of operations.
Just like how different mongers prefer different levels of entertainment, this is similar in that it offers a slightly different approach to mongering. I've been to many places and cities and have seen and experienced many types of services. But I've yet to try the resort experience. To be honest, I'm on the fence at the moment, so any information that can help would be appreciated.
