The Smiths; and other musical favorites and opinions of aging mongers

Hey nobody mentioned the hip hop artists from Long Island or are they not considered musicians in your eyes and to your ears?
Although not all specifically from Long Island, here are some of my favorites.

Biggie, still #1
KRS One
Gang Star / Guru - Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal - Truly a genius.
Big L - Would have been a BIG star
Gota give Tribe their props
Beastie Boys

Public enemy and EPMD are two off the top of my head from Long Island.
Although from queens Run DMC can’t be overlooked on any NY list.
As far as flowing.
Biggie
Big pun for me.
too many to list from the west coast for me. But my top two would be
Cypress Hill
Tupac.

You can hear the Public Enemy influence In Tom Morello’s guitar work.

BTW, he’s an extremely underrated guitarist.

Some of the most influential hip hop acts of all time are from Long Island…
Eric B and Rakim
EPMD
Public Enemy
De La Soul
Busta Rhymes
Leaders Of The New School
MF DOOM
Prodigy from Mobb Deep
Method Man from Wu-Tang Clan
Biz Markie
Nicky Minaj
Keith Murray
Lil Peep
Aesop Rock
Diabolic
Goretex from Non-Phixion
and there are many more.
Many in the industry would argue that Rakim may be the greatest Mcee of all time. Next time your on Straight Path driving thru Wyandanch - you will notice the green ‘Welcome’ town sign across from the train station reads:
WELCOME TO WYANDANCH
HOME OF HIP HOP ICON RAKIM

On a side note with music and song involved—- I saw a thread on FB, which caught my eye—

“ If you can describe your life in the name of a song”

-I still haven’t found what I’m looking for, by U2

- You can’t always get what you want, by The Rolling Stones

Thoughts for this evening.
